[Documentary] .The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe. [Documentary] .Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century bce; these, later joined together and made bigger and stronger, are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall. Especially famous is the wall built 220–206 bce by Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced; the majority of the existing wall is from the Ming Dynasty. [Documentary] .

[Documentary] .Other purposes of the Great Wall have included border controls, allowing the imposition of duties on goods transported along the Silk Road, regulation or encouragement of trade and the control of immigration and emigration. [Documentary] . Furthermore, the defensive characteristics of the Great Wall were enhanced by the construction of watch towers, troop barracks, garrison stations, signaling capabilities through the means of smoke or fire, and the fact that the path of the Great Wall also served as a transportation corridor. The Universe is all of time and space and its contents. The Universe includes planets, stars, galaxies, the contents of intergalactic space, the smallest subatomic particles, and all matter and energy. The observable universe is about 28 billion parsecs (91 billion light-years) in diameter at the present time. The size of the whole Universe is not known and may be infinite. Observations and the development of physical theories have led to inferences about the composition and evolution of the Universe.

Throughout recorded history, cosmologies and cosmogonies, including scientific models, have been proposed to explain observations of the Universe. The earliest quantitative geocentric models were developed by ancient Greek philosophers and Indian philosophers.Over the centuries, more precise astronomical observations led to Nicolaus Copernicus's heliocentric model of the Solar System and Johannes Kepler's improvement on that model with elliptical orbits, which was eventually explained by Isaac Newton's theory of gravity. Further observational improvements led to the realization that the Solar System is located in a galaxy composed of billions of stars, the Milky Way. It was subsequently discovered that our galaxy is just one of many. On the largest scales, it is assumed that the distribution of galaxies is uniform and the same in all directions, meaning that the Universe has neither an edge nor a center. Observations of the distribution of these galaxies and their spectral lines have led to many of the theories of modern physical cosmology. The discovery in the early 20th century that galaxies are systematically redshifted suggested that the Universe is expanding, and the discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation suggested that the Universe had a beginning. Finally, observations in the late 1990s indicated the rate of the expansion of the Universe is increasing indicating that the majority of energy is most likely in an unknown form called dark energy. The majority of mass in the universe also appears to exist in an unknown form, called dark matter.

What makes the Great Wall of China so extraordinary - Megan Campisi and Pen-Pen Chen

View full lesson:

The Great Wall of China is a 13,000-mile dragon of earth and stone that winds its way through the countryside of China. As it turns out, the wall’s history is almost as long and serpentine as its structure. Megan Campisi and Pen-Pen Chen detail the building and subsequent decay of this massive, impressive wall.

What can you really see from space? मानवनिर्मित स्ट्रक्चर अंतरिक्ष में से देख सकते है? :

We never got the chance to go to space in the public and probably will not even get it. But when we look at the blue sky, then a question arises: Will the Great Wall of China be visible from space?

Most people believe that yes, the Great Wall of China is visible from space, but some people have to say that they do not see it.

So today we will talk about the details on this topic that what is reality? Does the Great Wall of China appear or not?

The Great Wall of China appears in space, it has become a myth. It is taught to the children that the Great Wall of China has always named it as the only man-made structure visible from space. But it is difficult to see the Great Wall of China with the eyes of at least the orbit of the Earth. If this does not mean to look at the orbit, it is impossible to see from the moon.

Yang Luwei himself, an astronaut from China, had said that he did not see this historic structure even during travel. And that is why he also asked to re-write the visual wall theory written in the textbook.

Image which is taken from the International Space Station on November 24, 2004 on the distance of about 200 miles from the Central Inner Mongolia and Beijing's Beijing. Approximately 42.5 North 117.4 East Locations shows the Great Wall of China. And on the image this red arrows shows the second part of the wall.

Leroy Ciao took an image with a 180 mm lens and a digital camera on November 9, in which the Great Wall of China first appeared. Later on 20th February it was taken with a 400 mm lens, in which the wall was visible. And for this the CEO was honored by the commander and NASA ISS science officer 10th station team.
But in one of the news papers this news was totally different, its headline was written. He himself said that he had not seen the wall and was not sure whether he was watching the wall or not.

It is very difficult to see the Great Wall of China with the Earth's lower orbit, but parts of the wall can be easily seen in the radar imagery.

Now look at this image, it is also original, which was taken from the image of the wall at a distance of 450 m in west of Beijing. Which was taken by the Space borne imaging radar aboard the space shuttle Endeavor. Which shows the orange color while increasing the length of the wall.

NASA's leading scientist, Kamlesh P. Lulla, directs the activities of observing the Earth in the Johnson Space Center in Houston. They say that it is generally difficult to see the Great Wall of China, because the material from which the Great Wall of China has been built is the swinging color found in the surrounding area. Lulla also told about the picture taken on November 24 that it was sunny on that day, and there was a snowfall just a few days before the image was taken, due to which the wall was clearly visible.

On the Moon, the wall was last seen in the year 1938. And this theory has been repeatedly repeated, so that it spread to the whole world, until the astronauts lay feet on the moon. For the first time on the moon, Nile Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went, also in 1969.

So said the concept of 1938 and the Apollo 1969 of 11. Talk came into the society

After that, Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean also said that If you look at the Earth from the Moon, it is a beautiful sphere, mostly white, some places blue and yellow, and some green fields But no man-made structure can be seen.

History of the Great Wall of China ( Bengali )

History of the Great Wall of China.
The Great Wall of China was built over 2,000 years ago, by Qin Shi Huangdi, the first emperor of China during the Qin (Ch'in) Dynasty (221 B.C - 206 B.C.). In Chinese the wall is called Wan-Li Qang-Qeng which means 10,000-Li Long Wall (10,000 Li = about 5,000 km).

After subjugating and uniting China from seven Warring States, the emperor connected and extended four old fortification walls along the north of China that originated about 700 B.C. (over 2500 years ago). Armies were stationed along the wall as a first line of defense against the invading nomadic Hsiung Nu tribes north of China (the Huns). Signal fires from the Wall provided early warning of an attack.
The Great Wall can be seen from Earth orbit.

Today I visited the Great Wall at Mutianyu and it was just amazing! I was actually the first person who stepped on that part of the Great Wall today, which was incredible!! It was definitively not what I expected - I thought there would be loads of people like there were in Beijing City. Apparently other sections, such as the Badaling section, are very crowded.

Studying the history of the Great Wall is complicated because lengths of wall were built in different areas at different periods in history to protect different territorial borders, and in some places lengths of wall have been rebuilt on top of previously destroyed or eroded wall.

The Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BC)

It's generally believed that the first parts of the Great Wall were built during the Spring and Autumn Period, when the eastern and central region of what is now China consisted of many small states or princedoms.

To protect their states the princes ordered independent walls be built along state borders. These were like the Great Wall in construction, but on a smaller scale. The earliest was probably built between the states of Lu and Qi around 650 BC, which later became part of the Chu State Wall.
