ESC1000 Earth Science Chapter 1
ESC1000 Earth Science Chapter 1 - an Introduction to Earth Science
Introduction to Earth Science
This HD dramatic video choreographed to powerful music introduces the viewer/student to the wonder of Earth Science. It is designed as a motivational trailer to be shown in classrooms by Earth Science and Physical Science teachers in middle, high school and college as a visual Introduction to the beauty and complexity of the planet Earth.

About this course
Have you ever imagined what is deep under the ground? What is happening deep inside the earth? How has the earth evolved into its present state?
This course is an introduction to earth science, focusing on the deep earth. We will learn how temperature and chemical compositions inside the Earth are inferred from limited observations combined with laboratory experiments. We will also explore the fate of water on the early Earth related to advanced research questions. Upon finishing this course, you will learn how scientists interpret the unknown and use the scientific method to address immeasurable research challenges.
No specific knowledge is needed. Join this course and let’s imagine the inside of the Earth together.

Geology: Introduction to Earth Science
This is an introduction to my most recent project: an online geology course for beginners:
If you are interested in rocks, crystals and understanding the workings of your planet, check it out!
Most children are fascinated by rocks and fossils. I never grew out of it! Jewellery is a great passion of mine, and I gravitate to the geology side of things. I studied geology in university, and am presently pursuing a Master's of Science in Geology. My area of study is gemstone exploration, and I read academic publications on geology for pleasure (...we're a rare breed). I'm fascinated by all aspects of Earth science. For years I've been exploring the backwoods for beautiful rocks and semi-precious gems. Geology is a deep subject that will influence your perspective on life and time; I'm here to share the highlights of what you should know about your Earth's geology!

Why Earth Science?
Watch these 10 short videos explaining what we all should know about the science of the Earth — how the planet's land, water, air, and life systems interact. The American Geological Institute has developed these videos to bring to life the core concepts identified by the U.S. National Science Foundation-funded Earth Science Literacy Initiative ( For educational activities exploring each of the nine Big Ideas of Earth Science illustrated in the videos, visit Earth Science Week (
In Why Earth Science?, stunning video sequences and images illuminate the importance of knowing how Earth works and illustrate opportunities for careers in the Earth sciences.

Astronomy (What is Earth Science? Part 1)
- Astronomy is Part 1 of What is Earth Science? - a Junior Science Title
Use these 4 online Junior Science videos to examine the four branches of earth science - astronomy, meteorology, geology and oceanography - to learn the forces that shape our world and make life on earth possible. Identify the four branches of earth science. Name the founder of modern astronomy and the tools used by astronomers to study the stars. Discuss the origin of the universe and how the earth may have formed. Examine the modern methods used by meteorologists to study the weather. Learn why earthquakes happen and how seismologists try to predict them. Contrast the differences between ocean geography and surface geography.
