Recap: Ironfly Day 3

Recap: Ironfly Day 1+2

#ironfly #ironfly2018 #salewaironfly #hikeandfly #salewa #puremountain #scurbatt

Recap: Ironfly Day 6

The podium of the Ironfly 2018 has been completed in the night thanks to the skillful use of the extra time available by Von Kanel and Anders.
The two contested the final until the last second but a glide of Patrick Von Kanel on Lecco city allowed him to overcome the opponent and take the second place.
In the third place, just before the extra time expires, has arrived Markus Anders, however happy with this position.

The morning allowed to fly many pursuers and, in particular, Friedrich set off in pursuit of Oberrauner.
This evening Friedrich will use the extra time and his night walk could reduce the gap.

Due to the entry into non-permitted air spaces Alberti and Frigerio will be penalized with a four-hour stop tomorrow morning.

The night will bring news also for Kasieczko, Marchetti and Gerosa that will run until midnight.

Less than two days at the end of the Ironfly and the athletes, though numbed by fatigue, continue to struggle strenuously.

Ironfly 2018 - Teaser

Ironfly is an Hike&Fly competition: a suggested path with mandatory waypoints, that athletes must reach just by foot or flying.
The first athlete who finishes the route wins the race.
Maximum timing to goal: 1 week.

The idea behind this competition came to life in the summers of 2017, following the great results of some members of the paragliding Club Scurbatt in another competition, the Dolomiti Superfly as well as the renowned attitude of our Club Scurbatt for organizing flying competition.
The general enthusiasm for this kind of competition all over Europe is growing fast. Taking all the above into account we are proud to announce that

The 2018 race will take place from May the 12th till the 19th.
A 450 kms route has been chosen for those who will take the challenge .

Goldman Sachs Debunked: Long Straddles Into Earnings | Market Measures

Debunking a Goldman Sachs study about long premium into earnings announcements.

See more videos from the Market Measures Series:

In the second part of an in-depth backtest, Tom and Tony look into going long premium prior to earnings. The analysis is in response to a recent Goldman Sachs study mentioned in Barrons.

The research team looked at buying premium five days before an earnings announcement and selling after the announcement in stocks priced above $100. The results show that the strategy is not a profitable one, contrary to Goldman Sachs' results.

The study quoted in the Barron's article stated the strategy was profitable in five of the last eight quarters, which was also shown to be false when the study was scaled up.

It's not always easy to take the measure of a market, whether you've been trading for a day or a decade. On this segment we look under the hood—options probabilities, volatility, trading strategies, futures, you name it—so your trading mechanics are built to manage more winners.
