Jason Porath used to work at DreamWorks Animation, and is the driving force behind a project called Rejected Princesses, which now exists as a website, a blog and a book. He took his experience of working in an animation studio that was nearing collapse, and the need for safe, money making stories in animation. It got him thinking about princesses, and all the awesome women in history and folklore who wouldn’t make it into a Disney-esque movie because they’re too weird, off beat, or have stories which are way too awful.

We don’t know for sure if any of these have really landed on The House of Mouse’s rejection table, but we can be pretty sure not to expect a movie of them any time soon. So we’re taking a look at some of Porath’s Rejected Princesses, with Disney in mind.

We look at a few from fairytales and folklore, such as the Italian Penta, who cut off her own hands to avoid marrying her brother, and the Native American Corn Maiden, who gave her tribe corn from her own body. Iranian Banu Goshasp, who tied up her new husband and stuffed him in a closet.

We also look at some real women, such as Boudica the warrior queen who rose an army against the Romans, and Black Agnes, who defended her castle from siege for five months. Princess Pyongyang married a fool and turned him into a fierce warrior, and Freydís Eiríksdóttir tried to go into battle at eight months pregnant.

10 Disney Princesses You've Never Heard Of

These princesses aren't usually acknowledged as the Disney royalty they really are! Subscribe to our channel:

The world of Disney has changed in recent years as the company acquires other characters and companies from the world of films, television, and comics. This means the Disney Princess line-up you know and love may be in for a major overhaul. Disney is very protective over their Disney Princess line, but there have been numerous unofficial Disney Princesses through the years. These heroines may not have the same merchandise and lines at Disney theme parks, but they are definitely a part of the Disney universe.

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, they didn’t just get one Princess in Leia, but they obtained the rights to a very special Ewok Princess. Through the years, Disney has released their own versions of Manga, including a character and series known as Kilala Princess. In Peter Pan, not much screen time is given to the Princess of Neverland, Tiger Lily. Demi Lovato played her own Disney Princess in a made-for-TV film which premiered on the Disney Channel. Disney now owns rights to Avatar and the princess known as Neytiri. They also own the rights to The Princess Bride, the 1980’s Princess who is due for comeback any time now. The Black Cauldron is often forgotten as a Disney animated film and one of the main characters was a Disney princess who was never included in the official line-up. In the next couple of years, people will be hearing a lot about the character of Nimona, a shape-shifting princess who combines the spirit of Moana and Maui. Long considered a Disney Princess, Anastasia joins the group of Disney royalty, but time will tell if she’s accepted. Watch to see all these princesses and more!

10 Messed Up Origin Stories Of Disney Princesses

WHO DOES PRINCESS PEACH REALLY LOVE???

_________________________________________________________

Disney movies were most of our first experiences with fairy tales. And when it comes to their princess stories, we know they can sometimes be formulaic. Which isn’t a bad thing, who doesn’t love a happily ever after right? We love rooting for the princesses to escape their evil stepmothers and be happy. But what if we told you the original stories from which Disney was inspired, were actually not so happy? We’ve got a list of some pretty messed up origin stories. Did you know that Cinderella’s original story was much from gruesome? It ended up with her step sisters eyes getting pecked out.
And you won’t believe this. Rapunzel’s origin story involves her parents trading her for a salad. When she was in her tower singing, a prince walked by and climbed up using her hair. They fell in love and vowed to get married. When Gothel found out, she had Rapunzel banished to a desert and her prince pushed of the tower where he was blinded. He wandered around blind until he found Rapunzel and their twins. And did you know Ariel from the Little Mermaid, was actually in pain every time she walked? In the original story she didn’t get the prince, she actually turned into sea foam.
Want to know what other messed up origin stories made our list, watch our video and find out.

15 Cancelled Disney Movies We Wish Got Made

Which of these cancelled Disney movies would you like to see the most?! Subscribe to our channel:

Not all animated movies make it to the big screen. Typically at a film studio, there are many concepts that are being developed at the same time and only the biggest and baddest make it (no, we’re not just talking about Shrek.) Today, we’ll be looking at fifteen Disney films that were in production, but who never got their happily ever after. At number 0ne we have the Pinocchio live action film that got shut down. Apparently Disney couldn’t get it together to finally turn that puppet into a real boy. Number two is a film called Fraidy Cat about a feline who has lost three of his nine lives and isn’t looking to lose any more. At number three we looked at the flick Wild Life - a film based off of My Fair Lady, but instead of Audrey Hepburn at the helm it’s an elephant who wants to make it big in show business. Number four was a movie called The Emperor and the Nightingale which was adapted from the Hans Christian Anderson story about an emperor that gives up his beloved bird for a mechanical one. Next up at number five we have The King of Elves, a story about an old man who somehow ends up becoming the protector of a mythical race. Number six is Chanticleer, a tale about a cocky rooster who believes his crow is what makes the sun rise. Number seven is Mort, an almost Halloween classic about a boy who does an apprenticeship for Death but screws everything up. Number eight is Newt, a TAIL of two blue-footed newts who despise each other but it’s up to them to save their dying race. Number nine is Gigantic, a film that would’ve been HUGE (no pun intended, but also pun very much intended) about Jack (the one with the beanstalk) who forms an unlikely friendship with a giantess. Number ten is Toot’s and the Upside-Down House, a beautiful story about a girl who discovers an upside-down world that is thankfully nothing like the one in Stranger Things. The Bremen Town Musicians is our eleventh pick, and it’s the story of a bunch of farm animals who escape their dull lives to make it as - you guessed it - musicians. At number twelve, we have Hootsie the Owl, a misfit bird who sleeps soundly during the night and is awake during the day. The lucky number thirteen is Which Witch, a film that would’ve starred a magician who goes looking for love and instead of using Tinder, hosts a contest to find the girl. Last, but not least, we have Louis the Bear, Pooh Bear’s competition. Join us as we mourn the Halloween costumes that could have been and the toys that didn’t even get a story.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While watching the Disney Channel you probably imagine the stars of these shows and movies live a pretty charmed life. They have notoriety, fame, and millions of adoring fans. However, theres a lot that goes on away from the public eye that many people arent aware of. From eating disorders to anxiety and body image issues, some of these young stars have paid a high price for fame. If youd like to find out what its really like to work for this mega-company, make sure you watch our video. This is What It Is REALLY Like to Be a Disney Channel Star.

For some of these stars, being in front of the camera gave them body image issues. Raven Symoné was always worried about her weight, and Demi Lovato chose to enter into a rehab facility to deal with her issues with bulimia.

Other actors and actresses realize how isolating being a star really is. Ross Lynch described how people think hes an angel just because of the role he played in "Austin & Ally." And Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus found it difficult to shake their Hannah Montana and Lizzie McGuire images after their shows came to an end. Making friends on set was just as difficult - just ask Zendaya and Bella Thorne.

Theres also a good side to working for Disney. Debby Ryan and Zendaya were both given the opportunity to work behind the scenes. And Dylan Sprouse said his time was enjoyable because he and his brother, Dylan, learned how to say no when they were asked to do things they were uncomfortable with.

Make sure you watch our video so you can see what its really like to be a Disney Channel star according to other celebs, including Selena Gomez, Shia LaBeouf, and Alyson Stoner. Leave us a comment down below and let us know if you were shocked by anything you learned. Thanks for watching!

“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” “Aladdin” stars Will Smith as the larger-than-life Genie; Mena Massoud as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine, the beautiful, self-determined princess; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban as the Sultan concerned with his daughter’s future; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards. The film is produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich with Marc Platt and Kevin De La Noy serving as executive producers. Alan Menken provides the score, which includes new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and two new songs written by Menken and songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The film, which was shot on practical stages in London and on location amidst the stunning desert vistas of Jordan, has a talented creative team helping to bring Agrabah to life, including: director of photography Alan Stewart, production designer Gemma Jackson and costume designer Michael Wilkinson.

10 Messed Up Origin Stories of Disney Villains

We knew these Disney villains were evil, but these origin stories take things to the next level! Subscribe to our channel:

Who doesn’t love a good villain? Disney knows how to do them best, but there’s more to these antagonists than meets the eye. They may hurt puppies, manipulate, backstab, abuse, and much more, but these are just troubled souls whose path in life led them to be bad. Want to know the messed up origin stories of Disney’s notorious villains? Well, we got them all here for you, maybe not to excuse their wicked behaviors, but to understand it. Just like how the “Maleficent” film explored her history, we’re going to do the same.

Why was Cruella de Vil locked up by her controlling mother in the attic? Was Hades’ childhood so unfair that he must over through Zeus and Hercules? Who killed Ursula's dad from “The Little Mermaid” and how is King Triton involved? And is Claude Frollo really wicked, or is he just a fearful religious orphan? Out of The Queen of Hearts and Scar, whose parents treated them worse? Is Jafar actually the good guy? He seems to have more in common with Aladdin than we thought. And is the Stepmother from “Cinderella” just a sad widow? Lastly, the poor Gaston from “Beauty and The Beast,” suffers from a mental illness that was never treated.

Watch this video to understand the crazy stuff these antagonists had to put up. It’s no wonder they turned out the way they did. The beauty of it all, if we can explain their irrational cruelty, maybe there’s a way to prevent it...but come on, we need villains so we can have heroes, right?!

There are plenty of female characters from fiction and history that would be rejected as Disney princesses because they don’t fit the mold. They’re too “awesome, awful, or offbeat,” in the words of former DreamWorks Effects Animator, Jason Porath. In his art project blog “Rejected Princesses,” he imagined who would be the least suitable candidates to be turned into animated princesses. We’re introducing you to 10 of them.

Some of these are real women in history, like the Chinese Empress Wu Zetian, who is said to have committed atrocious acts to further her position. Or Khutulun, the best wrestler in the Mongol Empire. Or Shajar al-Durr, who became Sultan of Egypt. Someone else who accidentally rose to power is Hatshepsut, an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh who knew how difficult it was to lead as a woman.

Others also highlighted the divide in society between men and women, like the Mexican Revolution colonel Petra Herrera, who disguised herself as a man to gain battlefield promotion. Mulan, eat your heart out. Vasilisa Vasilyevna also dressed as a man, but her story comes from a Russian folk tale rather than history. You’ll also learn why Penta the Handless Princess cut off her own hands in an Italian fairy tale, why Étaín transformed into various guises in Irish mythology, how civil engineering helped Princess Amaridevi, and what Snow White has in common with Anahit from an Armenian folktale.

If you are a Disney fan, you have probably seen all the movies and love the Disney princesses. But there are actually some stories that you will never hear and characters that you will never meet. This is because many projects were canceled according to rumors. And if you want to know more about them, make sure that you stay tuned to 10 Disney Movies That Were Never Made.

We all have a favorite Disney princess. But unfortunately, Odette from “The Swan Lake” will never have the chance to be one of them. Even though you might have seen her in “The Swan Princess,” Disney was working on a similar project too. And they were right to cancel it because the movie was not a success.

“Newt” was the first Disney Pixar movie that had to be canceled. The story of two newts who struggle to find a mate would have been really interesting. But filmmakers found out that it was too similar to “Rio” and understood that it was better to give up. But we should never say never as this project is still on the shelf and “Newt” might have another chance in the near future.

Stay tuned to hear more about movies like “Shade Maker,” “Where the Wild Things Are,” “Aida,” “Swabbies,” “The Rainbow Road to Oz,” “The Gremlins,” “The Rescuers,” and “Hercules.” Did you know that Mickey Mouse himself didn’t make it to the big screen? Stay tuned to see what happened to Disney’s mascot.

This is how Disney princesses would look like in other countries.
Subscribe to our channel:

Description:
If you’ve ever wondered what Disney Princesses would look like if they were more diverse, you don’t have to wonder any longer. Disney has made strides to include a more culturally diverse princess lineup, but it’s still fun to see the characters reimagined with different racial makeups. A group of talented artists, including T.T. Brett, juliajm15, and Dylan Bonner, have given them makeovers that completely change their looks.

These raceent images have transformed the princesses in ways that will shock you. The stunning photographs depict Anna, Rapunzel, Merida, Mulan and Elsa in ways you’ve never seen them before. One of the most notable makeovers is Ariel. A guy surprised his Indian girlfriend by having her drawn to resemble a few of her favorite characters, including the “Little Mermaid” star. When you see Ariel with her dark skin and hair, you’ll be shocked!

Elsa from “Frozen” was also recreated into an African-American woman. Everything from her skin color to her hair was changed, and her features were also altered slightly. Seeing Elsa in her new form really makes us wish Disney would release alternate versions of all of their movies featuring these recent creations!

If you’d like to see more amazing photos of Disney princesses in other countries, make sure to watch this video! Leave us a comment and let us know which Disney princess' transformation wowed you the most!

Disney has the ability to make us laugh and cry with their classic animated movies. But who knew that they were actually sparing us from some highly emotional scenes? Apparently, there are several scenes that are too sad even for Disney to show in their films. We dug up some archived storyboard art and deleted animated scenes that are pretty dark.

For instance, did you know that the original scene when Bambi lost his mother was going to be even more heartbreaking? Filmmakers had to rewrite the ending of “Lilo and Stitch” because of a national tragedy. There was a funeral that was taken out of a Disney major motion picture. Even Disney’s “Up” had a few disturbing deleted scenes. But the most depressing has got to be the alternate ending of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Watch until the end to find out what happened. Here are 10 of Disney’s saddest, most disturbing deleted scenes you never knew existed, part 2.
