Disney has given us a lot of great movies over the last several decades, and they aren’t slowing down. But one thing Disney is the best at is making money. In 1994, Disney ventured into new territory. They began making sequels for some of their hit movies. Most of these movies bypassed the big screen and were released directly to home video. In general, the production quality is nowhere near as great as the originals. But these sequels have proven to be decent money-makers for Disney.

You have probably heard of some of these sequels, like “Aladdin II: The Return Of Jafar.” But did you know there was an “Aladdin 3? It’s hard to keep up with all of the sequels but we found ten of the most obscure ones. We bet you didn’t know there was a sequel to “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame! If you love everything Disney, subscribe to TheThings for more videos.

10 Upcoming DC Movies That Could Push Them Ahead Of Marvel

There are always going to be films that are cancelled due to certain reasons. Check out this list we’ve compiled for you.
Disney almost created their own story set in Oz entitled Rainbow Road to Oz but drew too many comparisons to the original film and didn’t have a decent script to accompany it. Even though Disney owned the rights to Where the Wild Things Are books in the 1990’s an animated film would have been too expensive for them to do and scrapped it. Disney’s television show Phineas and Ferb was almost made into a movie but was delayed and originally cancelled. How cool would it be to see classic Disney female characters at a royal boarding school? Well, that was almost a thing with Disney’s Princess Academy. We almost got to see a sequel to The Aristocats but the script wasn’t good and due to scheduling conflicts it was shelved and forgotten about. Dumbo II was in the works and would’ve taken place the day after the original film. Disney almost created an animated prequel to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs where we could’ve seen how the Dwarfs came to know one another and how the evil queen killed Snow White’s father and took the throne. A sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit would have pleased a lot of people out there but Spielberg backed out. A sequel to Tron: Legacy was teased but we still haven’t heard anything about whether or not it will be released. An unaired Cars Toons episode called To Protect and Serve would have taken us back to Radiator Springs to see some of our favorite automobile characters. Well, what did you think of this list?

All 33 Disney Sequels Ranked: Worst to least Worst

My ranking of all Disney animated sequels. This is only including sequels to movies produced by Disney Animation Studios. No Pixar. I wanted to do this vid when Frozen 2 came out in theaters but I've been able to get around to it until now. Disney sequels are mixed bag so the quality in the list varies a LOT

Feel free to tell me how right or wrong I am by sharing your opinion.

15 Disney Sequels That Should Have Never Been Made

Here are 15 of Disney's worst sequels of all time! Subscribe to our channel:

Sequels, when successful, are a fantastic way to give audiences more of what they want AND things they never expected. Done correctly, a sequel can enrich its predecessor’s story and characters and allow audiences to spend more time in the world they love. When done incorrectly, though, things can get a little messy. Scratch that: things can get REALLY messy.

Disney knows a thing or two about how to make a quick buck and they took full-advantage of this knowledge with a slew of direct-to-video sequels to some of their most beloved classics. But the downside of trying to make easy money is the inevitable dip in quality that follows. So many of these Disney sequels ended up failing in one way or another, mostly in terms of quality.

Some of these Disney sequels take the route of serving as a prequel. Examples like The Fox and the Hound 2, Belle’s Enchanted Christmas and Bambi II. Others are misguided from the get-go, such as Cinderella III, which features time travel as a prominent plot device. Some were just retreads of the same plot and character arcs, such as The Little Mermaid II and Return to Neverland, while others like Mulan II and Pocahontas II completely destroyed their characters’ essences. Even the live action attempts like Tron Legacy and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ended up being underwhelming.

Let’s take a deep dive into all these Disney sequels to determine what went wrong and whether or not there were any steps that could have been taken to improve the final products.

Disney always knows how to properly cash in on different movies, characters, and properties. From hiding films in the vault to created sequels to classic hits, they have made a lot of money and content over the years. While some Disney sequels like Return to Neverland can be a huge success, there are some that go under the radar or just aren’t noticed as much. These are the forgotten sequels of Disney films.

In 1997, Hercules stormed his way onto the big screen for a fun adventure that mixed Disney animation with Greek mythology. Fans of the film can enjoy even more Hercules action as the character trains in Hercules: Zero to Hero. Cinderella is a Disney classic, but that didn’t stop the company from releasing two sequels for it. The second one, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time is an often forgotten story that mixes elements of Lost and Back to the Future together. So many people have seen the Toy Story sequels, but back in 1996 ABC aired a number of short films that basically compiled a movie within the movie. You can relive the story of the Lion King in an odd and confusing sequel entitled The Lion King 1 ½. A Goofy Movie is a Disney classic featuring great music and a nice father and son tale, but things get a little crazy for the cheaply made Extremely Goofy Movie sequel. It seems like there wasn’t much to do after Rapunzel cut her hair in Tangled, but Disney produced a sequel short entitled Tangled Ever After. Disney channel original movies used to be extremely popular and Johnny Tsunami is one of the main reasons why. This is probably why Disney released Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board years later. Watch to see these forgotten sequels and other ones for films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the 101 Dalmatians.

These Disney Sequels Were Not Favorites...

Way before the current boom in live-action Disney reboots, the company extended their most beloved movies through direct-to-video sequels, prequels, and mid-quels. Starting with 1994’s Aladdin sequel The Return of Jafar, Disney made sure their straight to DVD releases were there to give fans more of what they wanted. And what an amazing number of titles there are to choose from!

In this video, we’re ranking Disney’s straight to DVD movies by just how weird they got. Sometimes the movies were simply odd choices for sequels like The Fox and the Hound 2 or Bambi II. Sometimes they just didn’t add anything to the original story like Cinderella II: Dreams Come True or Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. And sometimes the stories were just odd like Leroy & Stitch. Some were even pretty solid efforts like Aladdin and the King of Thieves and The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. No matter what, though, before streaming services came to be, these direct-to-video movies were all the rage. Click play for our ranking of the weirdest entries in Disney’s straight to DVD collection.

Movie Sequels You Never Knew About

Were there actually a sequels to classic movies like 'Rocky Horror Picture Show', 'Donnie Darko', and 'The Birds'? And were they any good?? Let's find out...

All The Sequels You Didn't Know Were Being Made

We're constantly bombarded with trailers, posters, and concept art for franchise films, but there are a few big sequels coming out that have stayed under the radar. From indie comedies to Biblical epics, let's take a look at some of the sequels you didn't know were being made.

The Pirates of the Caribbean films have continued to rake in money at the box office, but after five movies, their appeal among audiences and critics has been waning. The latest installment, 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales, sits at an abysmal 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. It raises the question of whether more Pirates sequels are warranted, but it looks like Disney has decided to test the waters by dusting off the franchise for at least one more outing. Ted Elliott, co-writer of the first four Pirates movies, has been tapped to help come up with a new adventure alongside Chernobyl scribe Craig Mazin.

Although this new Pirates film has been referred to as a reboot, the writers and studio reportedly haven't yet settled on a direction for the sixth film. Among the questions still up in the air: whether or not it will include Johnny Depp's swaggering, hard-drinking character, Captain Jack Sparrow.

Despite Captain Jack's popularity, Johnny Depp's Hollywood appeal has been on the decline in recent years, bringing uncertainty as to whether the studio will want to risk hanging a fresh new Pirates tale on his shoulders, or whether they'll opt to move on to a new star. We'll have to wait to see whether the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean is a sequel, reboot, or something in between. Until then, drink up me hearties, yo ho.

Although producer Phil Lord has said that the team behind the Jump Street movies is putting a pin in 23 Jump Street, which would mark the third outing for 21 and 22 Jump Street stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, the studio is moving forward with a spinoff of the comedy franchise, this time focusing on a female duo.

The first two Jump Street films followed a pair of male cops who went undercover at educational institutions in order to ferret out elusive drug suppliers. Presumably, the plot of 24 Jump Street would be much in the same vein, and would exist in the same universe as the existing Jump Street films, functioning as a continuation of the story started by officers Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko in the first movie. Keep watching the video to see all the sequels you didn't know were being made!
