10 Tips That Could Save Your Life One Day

Going one on one with nature is not the only situation you need survival tips for. In fact, big city life is also full of surprises and danger. Here's 10 of the best advice to help make sure you don’t panic in dangerous situations. It’s a good idea to know what to do when the situation demands it in order to avoid misfortune. We hope you will never get in trouble, but in case that happens, you will know what to do.

TIMESTAMPS
Don’t be afraid to be rude 0:59
Show the taxi driver someone knows you got in his car 1:41
Don’t underestimate ixodid ticks 2:35
If a person says they won’t touch you, be on your guard 3:47
Keep the money for an emergency 4:37
Avoid the crowd effect 5:29
Mark your way to safety 6:09
What if you can’t open the window of a sinking car 6:48
Remember the simple safety rule for staircases 7:36
Use keys for self-defense properly 8:19

SUMMARY
- You should always be bold enough to refuse spending time with people who seem strange. If you’re afraid to be alone in the elevator with your neighbor and feel that something’s not right, don’t ignore your instincts just to avoid offending someone.
- Before getting into a taxi, write down its number. If the taxi driver seems to be acting strangely, phone someone you know (it can be anyone, really), or simply pretend that you’re making a phone call. During the conversation tell them the taxi’s number.
- Remember that ticks can latch onto you even in an ordinary park, so always be careful. You can use some bug spray to protect yourself. If it happened, and the tick burrowed into your skin, you can try to remove it. Try to grab it with some tweezers close to the head, and very carefully prize it out. Do not try to do it with your fingers – you won’t be able to grip it tight enough.
- If someone says, seemingly out of nowhere, that they don’t intend to touch you, this should raise the suspicion that they want to do precisely that. Statements of this kind should always set alarm bells ringing in your head. Just think of it – if you are a nice friendly person why would you even think about hurting anyone?
- It’s a great idea to hide some money inside your phone case. There’s always a chance that you’ll urgently need some cash (for example, to pay a taxi driver). Having some emergency money might just save you if your wallet/purse or bag gets stolen or lost.
- If you or someone you’re with suddenly feels unwell in a public place, don’t ask everyone around you for help all at once. Instead, find the nearest individual, and ask them specifically.
- Even if you feel totally safe at a stadium or a cinema, and believe nothing can go wrong at a huge mall, it is better to be safe than sure. So, the second you get in, take a look around and mark your way to safety in your mind.
- You should always have something heavy inside the car that can be used to break the window if necessary. A steering wheel lock, fire extinguisher, or any other heavy object would be suitable for this. Some people believe the best thing you can use is the headrests.
- Over 1 million injuries happen because of stairway falls every year, to be precise. So, never put your hands in your pockets when climbing or descending a staircase so that you can easily catch the handrail if you slip.
- It’s much more effective to hold your keys as you would a knife or clutch them in your fist. This way, you won’t have to look for your keys, and it will be easier to defend yourself. See, not everyone knows how to work a knuckle-duster, but you most definitely know how to hold and use a knife.

13 Easy Tips That May Save Your Life One Day

Most people don’t even think about being in danger. But anyone can find themselves in a position when a lot is at stake. And it might happen when no one’s around. How to save yourself in a critical situation? Knowing some useful pieces of advice for different life situations can be really helpful!

Do you know, for example, what to do if you find yourself with frostbite? Or how to find a source of water in a desert? Or why it's really dangerous to build a fire inside a cave? (And no, the main problem isn't the smoke from the fire.) Interested? So here's a list of facts that can help you act rationally in a critical situation.

#survivaltips #survivalhacks #brightside

SUMMARY:
- If your wrists are bound with zip ties, rotate and move them back and forth against each other. It's likely to loosen the cords a bit, and you'll be able to remove the ties.
- If you find yourself with frostbite, take care of it as soon as you can. Despite the popular misconception, do NOT pour hot water on the damaged skin – it’ll make things much worse!
- If you run out of water in the wilderness, your top priority is to find a source of it. Keep in mind that water always runs downhill.
- If you get lost in the wilderness and have no idea what direction to choose, find a stream or a small creek. Follow it until it merges with a larger river.
- Dip the matches into hot wax and let them dry. It’ll make them waterproof, and to use one, you'll just have to scrape the wax off the match head.
- The heat coming from your fire will cause the rocks to expand. Eventually, they’ll give in, and you may get trapped in a rockfall or a landslide.
- If you find yourself surrounded by snow and with no drinking water on hand, eating snow is NOT the best way to rehydrate. In fact, it’ll most likely lead to further dehydration!
- If you’re restrained and lying in a puddle of mud or muddy water, arch your back. This posture will help the air get to your lungs faster and more easily.
- As soon as you realize you're lost in the woods during a hike, immediately stop. It may sound counterintuitive, but the best solution isn't to keep walking.
- There’s an Urban Survival Myth that it's safe to drink saltwater in small amounts. But in reality, such a delusion can have very dramatic consequences.
- When you go on a hike or decide to spend several days camping, pack your bag with some extra stuff for unpredicted situations.
- Opt for products that don't weigh a lot, like dried fruit and peanut butter or beef jerky.

10 Tips That May Save Your Life One Day

You never know what dangers lurk around the corner. Some of them can even threaten your life. We all hope such things won’t happen to us, but it’s better to be prepared even for the most unforeseen events. Is hitting a crocodile a good idea? How can snow be dangerous? In this video, Bright Side will tell you about ten rules of survival that may save your life one day.

TIMESTAMPS

#survivaltips #savelife

SUMMARY
- If you are lost far away from civilization, you can use your gadget to start a fire to keep warm or to send a signal to a rescue team. Many smartphones and tablets have lithium batteries.
- There is a very dangerous phenomenon in the sea or ocean called «rip current» or simply «rip». It’s a strong, usually narrow current of water, moving directly away from the shore. It can be recognized by a different color — it’s often muddier and cloudier and may be covered by a «river» of foam.
- Crocodiles run much faster than humans both in water and on land when moving in a straight line. But because of their short legs and elongated body, they are pretty clumsy on corners. Crocodiles don’t pursue a prey they are constantly losing sight of. So, if you find yourself chased by a crocodile, run in zigzags to escape.
- If you are standing in the middle of a field and a bull is running towards you, don’t panic and don’t run — bulls are way faster. Instead, take something off, for example, a hat, wait until the bull comes close and at the last moment throw the hat in a different direction.
- A jellyfish sting can cause neurogenic shock, an allergic reaction, and a strong intoxication of the body. Drink plenty of water, and visit a doctor. Water will help you recover faster, and the doctor will prescribe the necessary medicine.
- The main point of these rules is to concentrate on the most immediate problem first and prioritize better. For example, there is no need to go searching for food if you are shivering from cold. You have to solve the hypothermia problem first; otherwise, you won’t have to worry about food.
- Some people think it’s a good idea to eat snow to quench thirst. Yet it’s better not to do this in a critical situation because snow will cool your body.
- In a matter of seconds, a frying pan left unattended on the stove can catch fire. This happens if the oil gets too hot.
What you should do is turn the heat off and cover the pan with a lid to cut the oxygen supply. The fire will consume all the oxygen quickly and die out itself.
- If you are doing repairs at home and accidentally cut your finger, you can use superglue when you're out of bandages. Superglue helps immensely with the pain from paper cuts and it's also beneficial for keeping dirt out of your cut until you find some alcohol to disinfect it properly.
- Many people believe that when you get cut it’s necessary to remove the shard and clear the wound urgently. Well, it's not entirely true. If the wound is deep, you should never remove the object.

11 Tips That'll Save Your Life In a Critical Situation

How to protect yourself in a critical situation? Knowing some useful pieces of advice for different life situations can be really helpful!
There is hardly anyone who’d want to find themselves in a dark alley with a strange person chasing them or get a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. What would you do if the person chasing you grabbed you by force and took you to their car? What if you don’t have a spare tire and the “nearest” service station is actually many miles away?

TIMESTAMPS:
If somebody is trying to take you away by force 0:58
If you’re in an elevator with a criminal 1:34
How to understand when a storm is coming 2:06
If you get a flat tire 2:53
Stay focused during a plane’s takeoff and landing 3:24
Put out a fire with baking soda 3:53
How to quickly calm down when panicking 4:32
Use your phone as a reflector when you cross a road in the dark 5:29
Smell camphor to remove signs of tunnel vision 5:56
Start blowing or rubbing your nose to distract a predator 6:38
Make water safe after a natural disaster by adding drops of bleach 7:18

Music by Epidemic Sound

SUMMARY:
- If you are being pushed into a car, try to “accidentally” drop as many personal belongings as possible (but remember that it’s better to keep your cell phone with you). This could help the police find you faster.
- If you’re in an elevator with a criminal, press the buttons for every floor. This will give you a chance to run away or signal someone. It can also baffle the criminal — and make you look like a lunatic.
- Shake any drink, and pour it into a glass. If the bubbles spread to the sides, the weather will be good for the next 12 hours.
- If you suddenly get a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, make small holes in the sides of the tire, and stuff it with grass or thatch.
- Stay attentive during the first 3 minutes of takeoff and the last 3 minutes of landing. Don’t get distracted! According to statistics, 61% of all accidents in the air occur in these time periods.
- If your kitchen stove or the oil in your frying pan catches fire, do not try to extinguish them with water. Why? Water repels grease and oil, and the fire can spread when you splatter it with water. Instead, pour a box of baking soda onto the burning area.
- Panic is one of the main factors that decrease your chances of survival in a dangerous situation. Therefore, it’s important to stay calm and follow simple actions that will help you stabilize yourself.
- You can use your cell phone or camera as a light reflector when crossing a poorly lit road in the dark. It will help drivers see you on the road and react in time.
- To remove eye tension, take a fabric pouch containing powdered camphor crystals or a bottle of camphor oil with you. When you feel tired, bring the pouch or bottle close to your nose, and take a deep breath.
- If you are being threatened, act like a hysterical victim: cry, sniff, blow, or wipe your nose (even on your sleeve).
- Water may be unsafe to use after a natural disaster like a hurricane, blizzard, or earthquake. Purify your tap water with bleach while you wait for the local authorities to announce that the water is safe to use.
