Christopher Nolan's epic space adventure INTERSTELLAR featuring an all-star cast lead by Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and MacKenzie Foy is out now on Blu-ray and DVD.

With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history: traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.

From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (“The Dark Knight” films, “Inception”), “Interstellar” stars Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables”), Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married”), Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn (“Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”), and Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”). The main cast also includes Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy and Topher Grace.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film is written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan. Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Lynda Obst produced “Interstellar,” with Jordan Goldberg, Jake Myers, Kip Thorne and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.

Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team was led by director of photography Hoyte Van Hoytema (“Her”), Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley (“The Dark Knight”), Oscar-nominated editor Lee Smith (“The Dark Knight”), and Oscar-nominated costume designer Mary Zophres (“True Grit”). The score was composed by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “The Lion King”).

Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures present, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy/Lynda Obst Productions production, a film by Christopher Nolan, “Interstellar.”

Interstellar is about The Death of Film

In this video I explore one theme of Interstellar, the death of celluloid and analog film production.
I am not the first to notice this. Check out these great articles:

Interstellar is meant to leave questions unanswered. to be kafkaesque - a term names after the german author Franz Kafka, that describes an artwork that straddles fantasy and reality, and [keeps] a sense of striving even in the face of bleakness“ (Joe Fassler)
It's a movie that is hopelessly and full of hope at the same time.
Interstellar about the end of earth, and the end of film, yet it celebrates celluloid, like no other current production. with the movie being shot entirely on film. It is a literal RAGE, a RAGE against the DYING of the LIGHT.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring the Martian home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.

10 Interstellar Facts about Mars

Named after the Roman god of war, Mars is definitely a commanding presence in the night sky with its unique red glow. Explore our solar-system's second smallest planet with these out-of-this-world Mars facts.

1. In the 2015 movie The Martian, Matt Damon plays a character named Mark. “Mark” is the English version of the Latin name Marcus, which means Mars.

2. The Egyptians gave Mars its first recorded name: Har dècher (“The red one”). The Babylonians called it Nergal (“Star of death”). The Hebrews called it Ma’adim, or “One who blushes.”

3. The month of March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. Because March signaled warmer weather, this was the time Romans began preparing for war.

4. Mars’ red color is due to iron oxide, which is also known as rust. Basically, the whole planet is rusty.

5. If someone went to Mars without an appropriate space suit, the oxygen in his or her blood would turn into bubbles, causing immediate death.

6. Mars lacks an ozone layer; therefore, the surface of Mars is bathed in a lethal dose of radiation every time the sun rises.

7. Mars contains the largest labyrinth of intersecting canyons in the solar system called the Noctis Labyrinthus (“labyrinth of the night”).

8. Mars has the largest dust storms in our entire solar system. These storms can last for weeks and can cover the entire planet.

9. Over 100,000 people have applied for a one way trip to colonize Mars in 2022.

10. Because Mars has almost no atmosphere, its sunrises and sunsets appear blue.

With all the heart and humour audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, BIG HERO 6 is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.

Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action, BIG HERO 6 is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hit UK cinemas in 3D on January 30 2015.
