Every person’s health and well-being is dependent on how their body removes and purges toxins from the body. With all the environmental pollution, toxic body care products and processed foods, most people are in desperate need of a serious detox! A liver cleanse is a great way to do this.
One of the main ways that the body rids itself of toxins is through the liver. In fact, the liver is one of the hardest working organs in the body. It works tirelessly to detoxify our blood, produce the bile needed to digest fat, break down hormones, and store essential vitamins, minerals and iron. And when the liver is not functioning optimally, we cannot digest our food properly, especially fats! So watch the entire video to find out what liquids are good for your liver.
1.Drink lots of water. Detoxify your liver and flush toxins out by drinking at least 2 quarts of water every day. Drinking lots of water will keep you hydrated, which naturally encourages cell regeneration. It will also allow the liver to filter out more toxins and residue, letting it work faster and increasing your energy level.
2. Add lemon to your drink. Drink lemon juice in water or tea once a day. Lemon juice stimulates the liver's bile production to help push toxins out. It also prevents the buildup of gallstones and promotes digestion and liver function in the movement of gastric juices.
3. Drink green tea. Green tea is rich in , a type of plant antioxidant that boosts liver function and helps reduce fat storage in the liver.
4. Drink natural fruit smoothies. Fruits like strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries all enhance the health of the liver. These fruits have organic acids that lower sugar blood levels, and will help you to burn fat, decreasing your chances of fatty liver diseases
5. Make your own juice fast. Fasting is a sure-fire way to cleanse the liver. Most fasts involve eating only fruits and vegetables, or drinking only fruit and veggie juices, for a certain period of time. There are many different cleanses out there--you have to pick one that is right for your body.
6. Minimize alcohol and caffeine intake. Alcohol and caffeine are two of the biggest culprits that deposit toxins in your liver and keep it from functioning properly. Cleanse your liver by reducing your intake of alcohol and caffeinated beverages. Recent research however indicates that decaffeinated coffee may help lower elevated liver enzyme levels. Replace these beverages with non-alcoholic beverages to allow your liver to regenerate, flush itself clean and function properly. Read on to find out what liquids are good for the liver.
7.Use an herbal supplement. Natural herbs like burdock and dandelion root are all said to help rid the body of toxins while protecting liver cells and promoting healthy liver function. Everything can be found in capsule or tablet form and dandelion root also comes in some herbal teas.

2 – 3cm of Lemon
1/4 Yellow Bell Pepper
2 – 3cm Cucumber
1/4 Celery Stalk
2 – 3cm Broccoli

HOW TO MAKE
Juice - Place one whole apple in the juicer and then add all the other ingredients except the avocado, finishing off with the final apples and juice.
Blend - Place a couple of ice cubes in the blender along with the flesh from the avocado. Add the juice and blend until creamy and smooth.

5 Day Liver Detox
Raisin Water: 2/3 cup raisins + 2 cups water
Bring water to a boil, add raisins and simmer for 20 min. Place in glass container and allow to sit over night. Always drink on an empty stomach upon awakening and do not eat for at least 30 min after taking.

Just a small amount of this pungent white bulb has the ability to activate liver enzymes that help your body flush out toxins. Garlic also holds high amounts of allicin and selenium, two natural compounds that aid in liver cleansing.
High in both vitamin C and antioxidants, citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges, limes, and lemons support the natural cleansing abilities of the liver. Have a small glass of freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice to boost production of the liver detoxification enzymes that help flush out carcinogens and other toxins.

Much like broccoli and cauliflower, eating cabbage stimulates liver detoxifying enzymes that help flush out toxins. Kimchi, coleslaw, cabbage soup, and sauerkraut are great cabbage-foods to add to your diet.

1 tbsp powdered ginger ( try half if you don't want it spicy!)
2 tbsp lemon juice
1-2 dashes cayenne pepper
1 tbsp chia seed (optional)
1 tsp maca powder
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add ice until desired consistency. Enjoy!
TIP: I added 1 tbsp ginger and couldn't really drink it! I would suggest trying 1/2 tbsp first and then add more if you want the taste!

Your liver produces bile that helps with the breakdown of fat. During weight gain your liver is being attacked by inflammatory signals coming from your white adipose tissue and your digestive tract
At the same time, your white adipose tissue is unable to store fat fast enough, turning to the primary backup location for fat storage – your liver.
When your liver gets clogged with excess fat, metabolism becomes strained and you are at risk for developing far more serious health problems.
How does your liver clog?
Excess leptin production from white adipose tissue causes a lowering of adiponectin. Low adiponectin causes insulin resistance in your liver, which raises your blood sugar and converts sugar to fat in your liver.(1)
What causes a clogged liver?
Toxins lodge in the liver, kidneys, lymphatic system and especially fat tissue. The toxic build up prevents the normal uptake and utilization of nutrients, carbohydrates and proteins.
When our livers are so busy working to filter out all these toxins the liver has very little energy left to filter blood, drugs, and hormones let alone do the job as a digestive organ - thus many find losing weight more difficult. (2)
3 foods to help
A member of the Allium family, garlic is rich in a variety of powerful sulfur-containing compounds
Selenium – a mineral that increases the action of antioxidants – which assists the liver in detoxification.
Arginine – an amino acid important for relaxing the blood vessels, which eases blood pressure in the liver.
Vitamin B6 – helps lower homocysteine levels in the body, thus acting as an anti-inflammatory substance, which inhibits inflammation in the liver.
Reduce Fat Accumulation in the Liver – A study published in a May 2013 edition of Nutrition Reviews, researchers performed a comprehensive meta-analysis looking at the effect of garlic on total cholesterol, LDL and HDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
Findings suggest garlic to be effective in reducing total serum cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. (3)
Turmeric removes cholesterol from liver. Curcumin, one of the active ingredients in turmeric is believed to communicate with liver cells to produce more LDL receptors. Due to increase in receptors, more cholesterol is cleared from our body
One study administered fermented powdered turmeric to subjects, 20 years old and above, who were diagnosed with mild to moderate elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, a maker for liver damage and/or dysfunction.
60 subjects were randomized to receive 3.0 g per fermented turmeric powder (FTP) or placebo 3.0 g per day for 12 weeks. The treatment group received two capsules of FTP three times a day after meals, for 12 weeks.
Results: Not only did FTP significantly reduce ALT levels in subjects but also reduced serum aspartate transaminase (AST) and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), two additional enzymes which when elevated are commonly associated with liver damage. (4)
Pectin, a fiber found in beets, can also help clean the toxins that have been removed from the liver, allowing them to be flushed out of the system instead of reabsorbed by the body.
Beet juice can be highly beneficial, as it allows the betaine to stay intact. Betaine is the substance that encourages the liver cells to get rid of toxins.
Additionally, betaine acts to defend the liver and bile ducts, which are important if the liver is to function properly.
Studies have also found that regular consumption of beets, which contain betaine and polyphenols, enhance the liver’s ability to product glutathione and superoxide dismutase, both key factors in daily detoxification (5)
