3053 SM021013 The Entire History Of The Old Testament In One Lesson- God's Predestinated Elect Family/Nation

A study of NT Greek and OT Hebrew, customs and culture of Israel, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome, the pagan origins of the Christmass and other holydays / holidays, all for the purpose of understanding what the bible meant when it was originally spoken/written as opposed to what modern preachers and christians think it says; i.e. NO OPINIONS.

About Grace and Truth Ministries
Jim and Mary Brown
I have been preaching and teaching Bible for over 50 years. In 1957, I began studying the scriptures diligently after graduating from high school. In 1980, God began dealing with me, bringing me to what I believed was my deathbed in 1985.
In the hospital, I awoke near death crying out to God, Lord, You are going to kill me if I don't quit living for myself and saying all the truth in my power!!!
Thereafter, I began to say these blunt plain words that appeal to the elect sheep. As a result, I began to make more enemies than I could have ever imagined. I was sick and tired of the “mush” gospel that churches were preaching.
My family was confused, and on many occasions on the way home from church, my wife would say, he said such-and-such last week and he said this-and-that this week contradicting what he said the previous week. I began to say to my wife Mary, don't listen to the preacher, because he doesn't know what he’s talking about. Finally, I said, this is a waste of time! We are going home. We are not going to these churches anymore. I will teach you from our home.
Nearly thirty years ago, we started Grace and Truth Ministries which included my wife, son and one other young man. We started taping the sermons shortly thereafter. If you are located in a city that does not air our programs, please contact us so that we can let you know how you may help to get this message out to God's predestinated elect family.

God Has Chosen
Romans 8:29-30 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Foreknow - to have a personal intimate relationship beforehand.

God predetermined that all who belonged to him before the foundation of the world were to conform to the word of God in obedience to Christ.

All that were predestined were called, justified, and glorified (past tense verbs). These were fixed in the mind of God before the world began. (Ephesians 1:4; Acts 13:48; II Thessalonians 2:13). The election of the saints is unto accountability (I Peter 1:2).

The majority of the protestant church held to this doctrine during the reformation. It is the foundation of The London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689. You Baptists are supposed to be believing it and you've discarded this precious doctrine of Grace !!!

Understanding The Old Testament Law - part 1 of 2

Do you want to develop the ability to understand and apply the Old Testament Law?
In this two part series you will learn;
1- What the Old Testament Law is all about
2- How the OT Law applied to Jews vs. Gentiles
3- Avoiding misapplications and distortions of the Law
4- What impact Jesus had on the OT Law
5- How Christians are supposed to read and apply the OT Law
6- Examples of how New Testament authors applied the OT Law to Christians
7- Principles to get the most out of reading the Pentateuch

Christians need an overall understanding of the Old Testament Law. It is not satisfactory to merely say we aren't under The Law and never open it again.

Old Testament Lesson 19 - Gospel Doctrine

Old Testament Lesson 19 - Gospel Doctrine

#GospelDoctrineHelps

In this episode, we talk about the book of Judges in the Old Testament. We only talk about Deborah and Gideon in this episode. We only gloss over Deborah and really only mention the fact that she is a prophetess and share some historical quotes about women and healing / blessing in the early days of the church.

**WARNING** This episode might have some content that you do NOT want to share in your lesson because (depending on your audience), they MAY believe that you are sharing things that are untrue or that you advocate a specific position. I do not advocate for the Ordain Women movement; however, if you use some of these quotes, some people might think that you do. Again, I'm no one of authority, I'm just sharing some things that I believe are interesting and could help foster a lively class discussion.

This is NOT an official publication of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lecture 3. The Hebrew Bible in Its Ancient Near Eastern Setting: Genesis 1-4 in Context

Introduction to the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) (RLST 145) with Christine Hayes

In the first of a series of lectures on the book of Genesis, the basic elements of biblical monotheism are compared with Ancient Near Eastern texts to show a non-mythological, non-theogonic conception of the deity, a new conception of the purpose and meaning of human life, nature, magic and myth, sin and evil, ethics (including the universal moral law) and history. The two creation stories are explored and the work of Nahum Sarna is introduced.

The Old Testament Background of the Good Samaritan

The parable of the Good Samaritan is commonly flattened down to a simplistic morality tale. In this video, we take a look at its Old Testament and 1st century context. When Jesus tells this story, he draws from the language of Hosea 6 and the narrative of 2 Chronicles 28. We'll see how Jesus combines these two sections of the OT to create a new story in which an outsider becomes the one who engages in the divine activity of showing mercy.

Lecture 2. The Hebrew Bible in Its Ancient Near Eastern Setting: Biblical Religion in Context

Introduction to the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) (RLST 145) with Christine Hayes

In this lecture, the Hebrew Bible is understood against the background of Ancient Near Eastern culture. Drawing from and critiquing the work of Yehezkel Kaufmann, the lecture compares the religion of the Hebrew Bible with the cultures of the Ancient Near East. Two models of development are discussed: an evolutionary model of development in which the Hebrew Bible is continuous with Ancient Near Eastern culture and a revolutionary model of development in which the Israelite religion is radically discontinuous with Ancient Near Eastern culture. At stake in this debate is whether the religion of the Hebrew Bible is really the religion of ancient Israel.

00:00 - Chapter 1. The Bible as a Product of Religious and Cultural Revolution
08:16 - Chapter 2. Kaufman's Characterization of Pagan Religion
22:16 - Chapter 3. Kaufman's Characterization of One Sovereign God
35:13 - Chapter 4. Continuity or Radical Break?
