My Favorite SEO Hack to Increase Website Traffic | Neil Patel

In today’s tutorial I’m going to share with you my favorite SEO hack to increase website traffic that you're not doing.

Have you tried all those traffic hacks out there, but you found that you're getting very little traffic or results? Today I’ll teach you one simple hack that’ll increase your website traffic fast. And I bet less than 1% of you are using this tactic.

First, go into Google Search Console. Second, look for all the keywords that you're ranking for that are driving the majority of the traffic. They should be ranked at the top within your Google Search Console. It typically shows you the most popular keywords that you get the most clicks for to the least popular ones at the bottom. Now I want you to take those keywords and click on 'em. Google Search Console will show you which page that keyword is pointing to. This is really important. Once you've done this, you now know the most popular keywords that are driving traffic to your website. If you guys already know how to do this, and you've done this before, comment with a yes. If you don't know how to do this, please comment with a I've never done this before or a no. The reason I'm asking you to do this is this will help me create future videos so I know what to teach you on and what I know not to teach you on 'cause I don't wanna regurgitate the same information that you already know. But as I mentioned, you're not doing this. And check this out, I'm not talking about the Google Search Console part. You now have the keywords that are driving traffic and what pages they're going to. Take that keyword and put it into Ubersuggest. Ubersuggest will show you all the Google suggest versions of that keyword. What I mean by Google suggest is, have you every done a Google search and you start typing in things like marketing, and it starts recommending other long tail phrases that are similar to marketing that other people search for? These are other popular terms. If you already know that you're ranking for terms like marketing, what Ubersuggest will do is it'll show you all the long tail phrases. See with Google, it's much harder to rank for head terms than it is to rank for long tail terms. So take whatever terms that you're already ranking for that's driving the majority of your traffic, print to Ubersuggest it'll show you all the other similar long tail phrases that you should be using within that web page. Now I want you to go back to your web page and I want you to integrate those keywords in there. It could be that you can just add them in because your contents are already similar to those key words. It may be that you have to update your content, add in paragraphs and paragraphs of text which is fine as well. You'll also find that some of those key words aren't relevant enough to your content and that means that you may want to write a secondary article or another article around that one long tail phrase. Now that you've done this, I want you to also update your title tag and your meta description to include those most popular terms that Ubersuggest showed you. Now that you've done that, take that URL, go back into Google Search Console and submit it for re-indexing. Once you submit it for re-indexing, what you'll find is it'll get re-crawled by Google again. Within 30 days, you'll notice that your page that was already ranking for a head term, a popular term that was driving a lot of your traffic, will also now start ranking for long tail phrases and you'll be getting all this extra traffic that you never had before. That's my traffic hack. It's simple, it's easy to do but most people don't use it because it uses tools like Google Search Console and Ubersuggest separately instead of combining them. When you combine them, you'll get much more traffic and best of all both of these tools are for free.

Read more on my blog:

Of course, you want to work smart.

And you know What?

With on-page SEO, there are a few tactics that will make up the majority of your result.

Today I'm going to share with you three on-page SEO hacks that'll skyrocket your Google rankings.

For those of you who don't know what on-page SEO is, they are the changes that you make on your website, with your code, to get higher rankings on Google.

Google's a computer.

When it's crawling your website, it has to read code.

You've seen the Matrix; it's kind of like that.

They're crawling to figure out what your website is all about, and you can make changes, but today, I'm going to share with you three that'll help boost your on-page SEO and your Google rankings.

Tip #1: Use Google Search Console.

Click on search analytics; you'll see what pages are getting rankings, how many clicks, how many impressions, and your click-through rate.

You want to look at the ones that have a high impression count, but low click-rate.

That means people see your listing, but they're not clicking on it.

Adjust your title tag and meta descriptions.

Add an appealing sentence, that includes keywords, and you're much more likely to get clicks.

It's not about stuffing keywords everywhere.

You have to make sure it's readable for humans.

If you're using WordPress, you can adjust your title, and your description, using the Yoast SEO plugin.

After 30 days, check to see if your click-rate went up, or down.

If your click-through rate goes up, Google will know to rank your page higher.

That's how you can keep increasing your Google rankings, slowly but surely.

It's a grind, it's not that hard of a change, but it's a grind in which it takes a long time before the rankings increase from it, but it's one of the best ways to grow your traffic.

The cool part about Google Search Console is it shows you all of the keywords that you're getting impressions for.

You can add in the ones that get a high-impression count, and ignore the ones that are low-impression count.

#2: Make sure your website is super fast.

If your server is slow, it doesn't matter how clean-coded your website is; your site isn't going to load fast.

Don't get that cheap five dollar hosting solution, pay for something decent.

I'm on WP Engine, it's expensive, but my site loads fast.

The other thing you want to do, as I mentioned, is a content delivery network.

That way if someone in India is coming to see your website, they're getting your site pulled from a server in India.

It'll load so much faster for them, versus them having to wait for the internet signal to pick it all the way up from the server in, let's say, North America.

You want to make sure that your server is close to them, and no, you don't have to buy servers all around the world; rather you want to use a content delivery network, like Akamai, and that will ensure your website loads super fast.

Make sure you're also using Google's AMP framework, so if someone's on a mobile device, it'll load your site super fast.

I don't care if someone has a 4G or LTE phone.

Sometimes you're in an area that has terrible reception, so having an AMP-compatible website ensures that it loads super fast.

I've heard a lot of people say if you have an AMP-compatible site, traffic skyrockets.

I've found that it usually doesn't, in regions like North America, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, but I found my traffic from places like Brazil, has gone up tremendously, once I implemented AMP protocol.

#3: Theme-out your website.

Let's say your website is about SEO, stick with just SEO.

Don't go from SEO to TV ads to radio ads.

By having a site that's very specific on one theme, you're going to do way better.

After Google's Hummingbird update, websites that are super detailed and thorough on one topic, are much more likely to have more knowledge on that subject and rank higher than sites that are all over the place.

If you follow these tips, you'll do exceptionally well.

If you're not sure how to theme your site, leave a comment below, share your URL, ask a question about theming, and I'll respond, helping you out.

Anything I can do to help you, just let me know, and I truly am here to help you with your marketing needs.

I've watched so many videos about YouTube SEO and keyword research (from incredibly helpful people like Tim Schmoyer, Roberto Blake, Brian G Johnson, Sunny Lenarduzzi, Nick Nimmin, Sean Cannell, to name just a few) but until it happened to my channel, I can't really say I understood how it worked. But now after having one of my videos rank #1 in search for a pretty big search term Canon 1DX Mark II (at least as of this recording), I saw some crazy growth numbers for me, even as a pretty small channel with just over 1,000 subscribers at the time.

Watching my view count, watch time, impressions, and subscriber numbers keep on climbing was one of the coolest most exhilarating parts of my YouTube journey so far and I wanted to share this milestone with you all. SEO Hack: Duplicate Content Strategy

The best strategy for duplicate content.►Subscribe:
Find me on Facebook:
Read more on my blog:

0:05 It's Neil Patel for another Q and A Thursday video. I'm here with Adam from

This week's question is: Hey, Neil. Great video as always. I have one doubt. When you use the same article from a blog on LinkedIn article or something else, does Google see it as suspicious, like duplicate content?

0:25 Here's the thing with duplicate content they don't care so much about duplicate content, they more so care about the user experience. So if you're just jacking someone's content, and you're just taking it word for word, and you're not providing any other value, you're not going to get penalized, you just won't rank that high for that article.

2:10 A strategy that David invented for us, and this strategy worked really well, and we're still doing this today, I used to take my blog content and put it all on LinkedIn verbatim, the introduction sells the rest of the article, and he always took the introduction and he put at the end of it: click to continue reading, and it drove traffic back to the website.

Not only, yes, but it's also duplicate content, Google didn't care. We still ranked well on Google, but we are generating traffic from LinkedIn, and more importantly, we're generating conversions, right? Traffic without sales doesn't matter.

3:00 Now if you're releasing content on social media: videos, audio clips, and you're just putting them on Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, LinkedIn, whatever it may be, put them everywhere. It doesn't matter if the text is the same, the videos are the same. Even though there's overlapping in audiences, you'll find that you'll get more viewership in general by just putting the same content everywhere.

3:30 We put our Youtube videos on Youtube, right, when you compress them, and you set them up, and you optimize them for us. We do Youtube, we do Facebook, and we do LinkedIn. And funny enough, Youtube does well, Facebook's does well, but we've been getting more views, than anywhere else right now, on LinkedIn.

3:45 LinkedIn, even though we have fewer followers on LinkedIn, they lack video content, so they're pushing it harder than any other channel, and they're doing free marketing for us. So make sure you're pushing out your content everywhere. Social media doesn't matter on duplicates.

4:00 Now if you want to take that same video and audio content that you put on social media sites on your website, like, yes, you'll get engagement, but you probably won't get as much engagement as you will from the social sites, and you'll find that the video content that you put out on your website and the audio content that you put on your website, even if you add in the transcriptions on your site, it won't get much Google love.

5:00 I create videos for both my companies, put it on Youtube, and then we have a writer take the main points of that and extrapolate it, and make a different article and a longer article for SEO. Curious, would that make sense to do?

That works well. I don't know if you're doing this, but I would do that plus take the video format and embed it into the articles.

5:50 By adding your videos to your website, your time on site increases, your user metrics go up, and you'll find that your overall Google rankings will increase, but the key is not to just have videos on your site, it's text, as Adam was mentioning, and embed the videos, so that that way people watch videos on your website plus read the text, the time on site increases, user metrics go up, which overall increases your rankings for your whole site.

So thank you guys for watching. If you like it, make sure you subscribe, share the video. If you have a question for next week, leave a comment below, we may answer it.

We may answer it in another Q and A Thursday video or worse case, we'll at least, or I'll at least respond to your comment and answer the question.
