Many like to lift weights with the goal of boosting T, but while lifting has pretty profound effects on your growth hormone and a bunch of other hormones and responses that are conducive to building muscle, the link with testosterone isn't that strong. Research suggests it probably only increases by 10 percent and it's a very temporary effect.
Injecting anabolic steroids will give you a lot more testosterone than the body would ever produce on its own, and that has links to muscle. But naturally increasing your T, moving your levels around the healthy range, doesn't have much of an effect on muscle.

But if you're low on T and want to have healthy levels?
Vitamin D gets a lot of publicity for helping optimize testosterone levels. Getting enough zinc also helps.
Getting enough dietary fat, especially essential fatty acids, also has a link. But then again so does getting enough carbohydrates and calories.
The main goal should be to eat enough for your activity level and to get a broad spectrum of nutrients.

Over the counter supplements are unlikely to meaningfully increase your testosterone.
D-aspartic acid is a popular one that early research found to be promising, but it seems more likely that the increase is 30 to 60 percent and your T returns to baseline after a few weeks of usage.
DHEA is another, but the vast majority of positive studies have only been on postmenopausal women.
If testosterone is a priority, eat a healthy, varied diet; manage your stress and sleep; and it's probably worth exercising regularly. (If nothing else it'll improve your sleep quality.)

After finding out that I had low testosterone, I started researching how to naturally increase and boost my testosterone levels. Most of the advice I received wasn't very helpful and I was doing most of the primary recommendations, such as leading a healthy lifestyle, training, and I don't drink or smoke. As such it seemed that any changes on top of this would be minimal.
However as I started researching this topic, I discovered that actually there were lots of ways I could potentially improve my testosterone levels, and I created a list of 9 different areas that were actionable that I could immediately implement into my lifestyle.
I have shared these with you in this video, and so far I've doubled my testosterone levels in a short space of time, and hope to continue to build on this.

Step 1: Up your zinc
Eat foods high in zinc, such as oysters, beef, liver, crab, seafood, nuts and seeds, salmon, cheese, beans, and yogurt. Zinc may help prevent testosterone from being converted into estrogen, the female hormone.
