The Reason Why Many Educated People Are POOR

When I was 15, I started dreaming of becoming an Accountant. Though at this time I had my own little business, since nobody in my immediate environment talked about entrepreneurship, I didn’t even know that any poor boy like me could build a company. So, I wanted to work for a company as an accountant. Since I wanted to be a great accountant, I looked for a newspaper and cut out the image of one of the most successful bankers in those days. I pasted his photo in my room where I saw it every day. I also read about him and discovered that he was a professor of Accounting and a professor of Economics. Now I have a road map. Since my idol was a professor of Accounting and Economics, I started dreaming of becoming a professor of Accounting and Economics.

The Reasons Why Most Hardworking People Are Poor

I remember growing up in the village and being called “Lazy” by my parents and siblings just because I couldn’t do much of physical works.
“Be hard-working” was a good advice those days because most professions of the day, like farming and hunting needed physical strengths.
In today’s world however, most people with physical strengths are broke and there are 5 reasons for that;

What causes poverty?

Mr. Smart often explores why the people are poor. Why does poverty exist? What are the causes of poverty in reality? Keeping the political debate aside, let us understand why the people are poor from economic and behavioral point of view. Let us explore what are the reasons of poverty? Are the people poor because of their own behavior or adverse circumstances? What are in fact the root causes of poverty? Or one may ask what are the factors of poverty? Mr. Smart thinks that the reality is in between these two extremes. Sometimes, people make their circumstances adverse by their own behavior and negligence. For instance, a spoiled child may end up living in makeshift home after losing all his inherited wealth in gambling.

However, we can find many cases in which adverse circumstances induce poverty and negligent behavior. For example, we cannot expect much from a kid raised by a drug addicted, single mother who got pregnant in her teenage. Later, she supported herself by prostituting and selling drugs. In reality, these are the causes of poverty.

Now, we have explored the main causes of poverty? But, what actually poverty is? World Bank defines $1.9 a day as poverty line. It means that any person having less than $1.9 a day is extremely poor. According to the World Bank estimates, around 700 million people around the globe are living under this poverty line. Certainly, there is much difference between the poverty threshold of the developed and the developing countries. For example, in USA this poverty line is around $12,228 per annum or $33.5 a day for an individual. As per this poverty threshold, around 40 million people live in poverty in USA.

But, how to escape from poverty? How the end of poverty is possible? Mr. Smart thinks that government and parents both have vital role to play in this regard. Government needs to provide level playing field to all citizens by ensuring health facilities and education. On the other hand, parents should feed and supervise their kids till they can earn and support themselves. In this way, there will be more educated and employed youth. This will ensure steady income through employment. This is how the journey from poor to rich is possible? But, Mr. Smart wants you not to stop dreaming big after gaining secure employment and steady income.

Dear viewers! What is your opinion about the causes of poverty? Is poverty induced internally because of individual behavior and orientation? Or there are more external factors like poor healthcare and inadequate educational facilities that cause poverty? Your fellow viewers and Mr. Smart are eager to listen your opinion in the comments section.

Dear viewers! This animated review series is not the substitute of original book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” which Robert Kiyosaki has written like a story based on his own life. Rich Dad and Poor Dad are the main characters of Robert's Rich Dad Poor Dad. This book is a must read for aspiring entrepreneurs who are currently entrapped in the Rat Race of “Get up, go for job and pay bills.” Mr. Smart highly recommends you to thoroughly read this book. British philosopher and statesman Francis Bacon once said,

“Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.”

“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” is one of such phenomenal books which should be chewed and digested.

Rich Schools Poor Students: Tapping Large University Endowments to Improve Student Outcomes

(Visit: “Rich Schools, Poor Students: Tapping Large University Endowments to Improve Student Outcomes” was a study that was published by the Nexus Research & Policy Center in April 2015. Jorge Klor de Alva covers the compelling findings outlined in this report which reveals that not all private universities are private. Many of the richest universities in the country, sitting on hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars in tax exempt endowments, receive government subsidies through tax laws that dwarf the appropriations received by public universities and colleges. Moreover, access without success is not opportunity. And welfare to the wealthy through hidden subsidies is not good policy. This study shines light on the latter and proposes a revenue neutral way to apply money generated by reforming existing tax policy to provide real opportunities for success to community college students.
