Auf dem Weg von Zürich nach Shanghai wurde während des Fluges eine erhöhte Öl Temperatur in Triebwerk Nummer 3 festgestellt. Der Flug musste abgebrochen werden, eine Sicherheitslandung war nötig. Anschließend wurde der Flug mit einem anderen Flugzeug fortgesetzt. Das Video zeigt die vorgehensweise der Piloten in einer Ausnahmesituation, bis zur Landung.

On the way from Zurich to Shanghai during the flight was an increased oil temperature found in engine 3. The flight had to be canceled, a landing was necessary. Then the flight was continued with a new plane. The video shows the entire approach to the landing, in an exceptional situation.

Iberia Air Emergency Engine Failure Boston Logan 6-30-2010

Another scare at Boston Logan tonight as an Iberia A340 Flight 6166 abruptly aborts a take-off as an engine bursts into flames. I heard a loud and very unusual boom and looked over to see flames and smoke shooting out of at least one of the four engines. The plane roared to a halt as smoke continued to billow out of the engine. Pretty scary! Thankfully everyone was safe and the pilot - well, calm, cool and collected! Was passiert eigentlich, wenn im Flug plötzlich beide Triebwerke ausfallen? Dieser größtanzunehmende Zwischenfall wird regelmäßig trainiert und PilotsEYE zeigt erstmalig, wie die beiden Trainings­kapitäne unter ihren Sauerstoffmasken gehörig ins Schwit­zen geraten.

Die Zeiten von vierstrahligen Flugzeugen aus Alublech sind endgültig vorbei. In der neuen Folge von PilotsEYE.tv wird der neue Airbus A350 vorgestellt, der für die der­­­­zeit modernste Bauweise eines Verkehrs­flug­zeuges steht. Die wichtigsten Fakten: 20% weniger Gewicht und 25% weniger Sprit­verbrauch.

Der wichtigste Mann des Filmes ist Flottenchef und Kapitän Martin Hoell, der sich bei seinen Fabrikbesuchen in Ham­burg, Bre­men und bis in die Final Assembly Line (FAL) nach Toulouse be­glei­­­ten hat lassen. Eingebettet in den Erstflug von München nach Bos­­ton, erzählt er von den einzelnen Fertigungs­schritten dieses er­sten von 25 Flugzeugen, für deren Indienststellung er verantwortlich ist.

Erstmals in zehn Jahren PilotEYE.tv gelang es, den fast heiligen Abnahmeflug zu filmen, bei dem zum Beispiel alle für die Steuerung notwendigen Hydrauliksysteme im tatsächlichen Flug ausgeschaltet werden. Ein echter “Highly Emergency Test“.

Ebenso durften die Kameras erstmals auf den Iron Bird gerichtet wer­den, das skelettierte Flugzeug, das bereits drei Jahre vor dem Proto­­­ty­pen in einem geheimen Hangar für erste Flugtests ge­baut wurde.

Here we are onboard Emirates Airbus A380 (A6-EDT) flight number EK5 on January from Dubai to London on 5th 2016. Something unusual happened (normal procedure during certain difficulties) where our plane had a technical gear issue and we had to dump Fuel for few hours and after circling around for 4 hours we diverted back to Dubai, we landed safely and stayed 1 extra night in Dubai and the next day 6th January we took of again on different plane back to London LHR.

Fuel dumping is a procedure used by aircraft in certain emergency situations before a return to the airport shortly after takeoff, or before landing short of its intended destination (emergency landing) to reduce the aircraft's weight. Aircraft have two major types of weight limits: the maximum takeoff weight and the maximum structural landing weight, with the maximum structural landing weight almost always being the lower of the two. This allows an aircraft on a normal, routine flight to take off at the higher weight, consume fuel en route, and arrive at a lower weight. There are other variables involving takeoff and landing weights, but they are omitted from this article for the sake of simplicity.

It is the abnormal, non-routine flight where landing weight can be a problem. If a flight takes off at the maximum takeoff weight and then faces a situation where it must return to the departure airport (due to certain mechanical problems, or a passenger medical problem for instance), there will NOT BE TIME to consume the fuel meant for getting to the original destination, and the aircraft may exceed the maximum landing weight to land at the departure point. If an aircraft lands at more than its maximum allowable weight it might SUFFER structural damage, or even break apart on landing. At the very least, an overweight landing would require a thorough inspection for damage.

Emergency Landing! Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 no flaps/high speed landing at Frankfurt Airport

On the 28th of March, the Lufthansa Flight LH542 Frankfurt to Bogota operated by an Airbus A340-300 with the registration D-AIGN developed a serious problem with its flaps shortly after departure. After completing a few holds over the Dutch coast to lower the landing weight, the A340 returned back to Frankfurt and landed safely without flaps at around 15:50 UTC.

To be honest, I firstly didn't even realize that I just filmed an emergency landing as everything looked quite usual, apart from a few fire services driving by and a rather long holding queue, but I thought it might be normal for an airport in this size. After no plane was lining up, I checked flight radar and Twitter if something happened and noticed that I just caught an emergency landing. ;D
