BEFORE & AFTER TRANSFORMATION | DIY DESK TO VANITY | Keke J.
Hey guys! Today I'll be showing you how I transformed this vintage desk into my new makeup vanity! Everything in this video cost me under $120 which is not bad at all! This process took about 4 days to do because I wanted to make sure the paint between coats was dry. I want to know your thoughts on my first big project and leave them down below!

Vintage Vanity Transformation | Furniture Rescue by Maz Ep. 1
We (re?)transform an amazing old piece of furniture, a vintage vanity, from painted black to stained black. When we first got this vanity, it was a mess. It had been painted at least twice, once with spray paint, and was falling apart. Originally we stripped all the old paint off, got it down to bare wood, and then painted it black.
Paint doesn't hold up well, so a year later it was time to do it all over again. We started by stripping the old paint off using Citristrip and mineral spirits, and then sanded it down to bare wood. It was stained using Varathane stain in ebony, and then finished with Varathane polyurethane in the clear gloss finish.
We found the hardware at Hobby Lobby, and with some DIY and spray paint we made it match the design of the rest of the vintage, refinished furniture in the room. It was a great vintage vanity restoration!

Extreme desk Makeover: How I gave this desk a complete new look and purpose
On this video I gave this desk a complete new look and purpose by cleaning it, seperating it and turning it into 2 side tables. I also painted it with blue chalk paint, distressed it and sealed it with Minwax Polycrylic. I also refinished the tops with Verathane Stain in Briarsmoke and spray painted the steel hardware with a gold spray paint.

DIY VANITY UNDER $150 WITH LIGHTS
I searched high and low for Vanity ideas from Pinterest to Tumblr to YouTube and I didn’t find the EXACT look I wanted so I knew I had to get creative and come up with my own style for my vanity! Because I didn’t want the typical IKEA DIY VANITY look because the color scheme in my bedroom is black and brown and I didn’t want to have a all white Vanity to throw off my color scheme so after many of trips to Michael’s and IKEA I googled desk with drawers because I didn’t want as many drawers as the IKEA DIY VANITY but I did want a few. So after googling I came across a desk at Office Depot that was the “See Jane Work Kate Writing Desk” in black for $99.99.
After I got my desk which was my “base” for my vanity. I went to Walmart and got a mirror for I believe $16.99. I couldn’t find the exact one I purchased in store on Walmart’s site for the direct link but if you go into the home decor at your local Walmart I’m sure you’ll find it or something similar to it.
Next. I knew I had to get the vanity lights because you CAN’T have a vanity without good lightening and this is where my real bargain shopper came out in me and my Bob the Builder skills. I knew with the vanity that I was composing I had to have 3 sets of lights around my mirror for the top and the 2 sides and I also knew I wasn’t tech savy so I needed to find battery operated lights which lead me to going to Bed Bath and Beyond and getting the best deal! I found these LED light bars. I believe they were $9.99 each and with the coupons that Bed Bath and Beyond does you can save up to 20% off which made them pretty cheap.
Last but not least I needed to find extra storage for my makeup and that’s where I went to Dollar Tree to get my last bit of items to complete my vanity. Now I’m already at $120-$130ish dollars right now so I got 5 napkin holders for my makeup palettes (which I got this idea from Bargain Bethany- link to video her videos are amazing and she’s so creative so definitely check her out ) , 7 bowls for my makeup brushes and foundations, powders, etc. and lastly I got little pearls or just decorative beads to give my makeup bowls and cute little twists and I bought 5 of those. Totalling my buyings at Dollar Tree to be around $20.
Which is how I got my vanity for under $150!
