Walking 2 miles might not seem like a lot, but when you're over 600 pounds and relying on that walk for each and every one of your meals, it's a different story. Drastic might be a word that comes to mind when you think of taking that trek to and from your local Walmart for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but for Pasquale Pat Brocco, it was a major step in a life-changing journey.

What began as a childhood habit of fast-food-fueled overeating quickly became scary after Pat's doctor said the words pre-diabetic, high blood pressure, and gastric bypass. He may have taken baby steps at first, but Pat eventually shed over 300 pounds in three years. This is his story.

Why did you decide to transform?
A little over three years ago, I was a bodyguard touring with a notable comedian. We placed a friendly bet on the NBA finals, and the loser had to do 50 push-ups. I lost. When I attempted to crank out my punishment, I couldn't even do one push-up. This happened in a room full of people, mostly ladies, and it was embarrassing. I was supposed to be protecting them, and I couldn't even do one push-up. To add insult to injury I was in front of a comedian, so you can just imagine how that went.

I stayed on tour for about six more months and then finally decided to go to a doctor. I couldn't weigh myself on home scales, so I had no idea what to expect. The doctor told me I was 605 pounds, prediabetic, morbidly obese, and had high blood pressure. He suggested I consider gastric bypass! It was one of the scariest, eye-opening moments of my life. I was 28 and making my death bed.

Did you head home and automatically change?
I emotionally ate for about a week. Then, one morning, I looked at my reflection when getting out the of shower. I was ashamed of what I saw. My stomach hung to my thighs, and my breasts were huge. I knew I couldn't live like this anymore. I needed to change, and that's exactly what I did.

I headed straight for the kitchen, emptied my cabinets and refrigerator, and threw all the junk food away. At 600 pounds, I couldn't do much in terms of exercise, so I decided to walk to get every meal I ate. I knew I'd get hungry 3-4 times a day, and I used that feeling to motivate me to my destination. When it was time to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I'd walk a mile to Walmart and a mile back. I did that for my first 60 days.

Imagine not leaving your house or seeing your friends for years. Imagine not bathing in nearly that long because your body had grown so enormous that it could no longer fit in the shower. Imagine looking down at the scale and seeing the number 653 staring back at you.

That's where Bodybuilding.com forum member Jesse Shand found himself in 2013. By then, he had given up on the idea of living a normal life—at least by society's definition of normal.

I spent my days playing video games and trolling the Internet, remembers Jesse. I was just all negativity, all of the time.

Jesse's heaviest recorded weight was 653 pounds, but he probably weighed quite a bit more than that. He could only find a scale big enough to weigh himself with after losing weight for two months.

The only thing more remarkable about the amount of weight Jesse lost—300 pounds—is the way he lost it—through help from strangers on the Bodybuilding.com forums.

Remarkably, Jesse's transformation started by accident. It started off as nothing more than an ill-fated attempt to get a rise out of bodybuilding types, he recalls. Jesse created a thread called Ask the fattest man on the misc [sub-forum] anything, posted photos of his then-obese body, and waited, fully expecting—almost inviting—a backlash.

What happened instead set the wheels of change in motion.

[My plan] 'backfired' on me, and people started to try to convince me that it wasn't too late, that even at my weight, all was not lost, remembers Jesse. I didn't want to hear it and made my usual excuses, like not having enough money for groceries or lacking the motivation. But the members of the thread didn't accept my excuses and even offered advice on how it could be done. They walked me through it, provided me with a platform to get feedback and take baby steps, and the rest is history!

It really showed me that even on the Internet, the kindness of strangers can completely change your life. It helped me to realize that I had something to fight for, Jesse says of his Bodybuilding.com comrades. They're the ones who took me under their wings and believed in me long before I believed in myself.

Never, Ever Give Up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation!

Arthur Boorman was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own, ever again.

He stumbled upon an article about Diamond Dallas Page doing Yoga and decided to give it a try -- he couldn't do traditional, higher impact exercise, so he tried DDP YOGA and sent an email to Dallas telling him his story.

Dallas was so moved by his story, he began emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur throughout his journey - he encouraged Arthur to keep going and to believe that anything was possible. Even though doctors told him walking would never happen, Arthur was persistent. He fell many times, but kept going.

Sharon Wigger had an eating disorder as a teen, but two successive pregnancies after high school left her overweight, not underweight, and feeling depressed. As a 21-year-old, her 5-foot-3-inch frame was carrying around 200 pounds at 48 percent body fat.

| Why Did You Decide To Transform? |
In high school, I was very fit. Before that, in junior high, I even played on the boys' football and basketball teams. Then, I got away from sports and into a battle with an eating disorder. I developed this mindset that any pant size above a 6 was unacceptable to me. I'd do just about anything to stay slim.

A year and a half after I graduated, I had my first son and my weight skyrocketed to 200 pounds. I was a single teenage mother with no friends and a bad case of postpartum depression. I simply didn't care about my health or my weight anymore.

At that time, I was working the overnight shift as a patient access representative at a local hospital. One night, I went to Taco Bell and bought about $20 worth of food and snacked on it all night long. I was getting ready to eat yet another burrito when I overheard a couple of nurses laughing and joking about the way I looked.

At first, I was really hurt, but deep down I knew I needed to change. I had been using food to comfort myself during my pregnancy, and it had gotten out of hand. A moment later, I surprised and inspired myself by thinking, Sharon, you can do this. You know what you're doing is wrong—and you know you can change it. Put the food down and let's do this. So, I started my journey.

My name is Joey Saavedra, I'm 21 years old and this is my story about how my extreme weight loss transformation shattered my life.

Before I started my weight loss journey I had always been fat. I had always been the biggest friend in the group making it easy to be picked on and teased. Whether it was at school or on the football field It was hard to carry the burden of being overweight as a teenager.

Growing up I continued to gain weight as I wanted to go to a good college and possibly into the NFL one day. Through Jr. high and high school I continued on this path which led me to more problems and troubles that made my life even harder.

Girls were never attracted to me and watching all of my friends develop relationships and have girlfriends while I was stuck at home playing videos games.

In this video I talk about the things that I noticed before and after I lost 120 pounds in a year and how that opened my eyes to the world and everyone around me.

It wasn't easy growing up fat but now I have my story to share to the world to inspire and motivate others just like me who want a new chance at life. A much better life.

My name is Bill Janke and I'm from De Pere, Wisconsin. My journey started on July 10, 2014, when I went to the hospital with a sleep apnea injury. My ah-ha moment came when I stepped on the scale and saw that I weighed 423 pounds! How did I let myself get like this?

Then the reality sank in that I was 31 years old and my obesity and destructive lifestyle were going to possibly send me to an early grave. I decided right then and there that I wanted to make a lifestyle change that would hopefully get me out of the hole that I had dug myself into for over 25 years.

I eventually modified my diet slightly to align with Jim's Dieting 101 and found that the science behind the diet was effective and sustainable. Right around this time, I started exercising with a longtime friend; he mentioned he had just started using Jim Stoppani's programs and asked if I would join him while he was in the middle of the Super-Man program. Together, we've completed Super-Man, Jim's Giant Program, Six Weeks to Sick Arms, and The Daily Grind.

Then I decided I wasn't quite done yet and wanted to achieve more. I set another goal to be at or below 7 percent body fat by September 18, 2016. Many people told me this was unattainable and I should quit because I had achieved so much already. When I heard these comments, it only made me want to reach my goal even more.

My outlook on life has totally changed now. I want nothing more in this world than to pay it forward in any way I can to help others who would like to make lifestyle changes. I have made some great friends in the JYM Army Facebook group, and they're always willing to help anyone in need. Not only is this group knowledgeable, they are also the most positive people I have ever encountered.

I'd been deployed to Iraq for three consecutive tours, had to deal with numerous family issues, and even had to close the auto dealership I'd worked hard to build, he says. Everything took a toll, and I got stuck in a depressive cycle.

Everything changed the day his son, Vernon Jr., was born. A renewed sense of purpose and responsibility led Vernon to regain control of his life—starting with fitness.

This is Vernon's story.

What Made You Decide To Transform?

I pretty much gave up on life. I had no more motivation to succeed. I thought it was pointless to pursue dreams that would never happen, and my negativity got the best of me. I became less active and ate whatever I felt like. Slowly, but surely, I started gaining weight. It got to the point that I'd suddenly feel short of breath just when sitting around.

My son renewed my sense of hope. Until that point, negativity had held me down. After he was born, I swore to myself that I'd give it 110 percent or nothing at all. I immediately enrolled in college and have been going for about two years now. I'm scheduled to graduate with a perfect 4.0 in June.

What Motivated You To Keep Going?

I decided to sign up for Bodybuilding.com's 250K Challenge to stay motivated. At times I felt like giving up, but I realized that would mean I was giving up on my son. I would drag myself to the gym at 5 a.m., still half asleep, but after my workout was done I'd always feel accomplished. I feel truly blessed to have participated in the challenge. On my journey, I've inspired many to transform their bodies, too, and learn the health and nutrition pointers they need to stay fit for life.

How Did You Accomplish Your Goals?

Having a plan was crucial for me. I had a plan for everything: what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat. I even set alarms reminding me to drink water on time. Being regimented helped me stay on task and set realistic goals.
