08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly.

2. What are your strengths?

This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for.

3. What are your weaknesses?

For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for.

4. Where do you see yourself in five years?

This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear.

5. What do you know about our company?

A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is What do you know about this company? Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer.

6. Are you good at dealing with change?

Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change.

7. Do you work well under pressure?

In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better.

8. How do you make important decisions?

There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

Get the TRANSCRIPTION for this VIDEO here:

- Concentrate on telling them about your work-related skills as opposed to your home life. They are not interested in your home life.

- Download a copy of the person specification for the job and focus on telling them how your skills and attributes match the document.

- Use “power words” in your response, such as: motivated, enthusiastic, loyal, flexible, committed, honest, hard-working, adaptable etc. These will resonate positively with the interview panel.

- Tell them about the preparation work you have done in the build-up to the interview.

- Focus on the person specification, the job description and information you have gleaned from the company’s website and also the literature you have studied during your research.

- Again, focus on the person specification for the role you are applying for.

- Say something different that makes you stand out from the other job applicants. Give an example of why you are better than the other applicants and try to make yourself RELATABLE and REAL!

- Don’t tell them you plan to have moved on from their company, either internally or externally.

- Loyalty is very important to the vast majority of employers. Remember, they have to spend time, money and resources training you up in the role, so they will want to see a return on their investment.

- Don’t tell them you want to be sitting where they are!

- Anyone who tells the interview panel they have no weaknesses is telling porkies! We all have weaknesses.

- Don’t give a weakness that is one of the key requirements of the role. For example, if punctuality and good timekeeping are important, don’t tell the panel you struggle getting out of bed in the morning!

- List the qualities I am going to give you in the sample answer that follows.

- Back up your answer with a specific example of when YOU have worked well as part of a team using the STAR technique.

- Try to give an example of when you have carried out a difficult/pressurised task under strict time constraints.

- Give a specific example and don’t forget to use the STAR technique in your response.

5 BEST Interview Tips - The Ultimate Formula to Interview Success

I want to give you my 5 Best Last Minute Tips that are the secret formula you have been missing.
The secret formula to interview success is one that will help you build a framework and a methodology that's going to pull you through the interview so that an employer can get a better picture of who you are and what you can deliver to their organization if they're hire you.
So, the first thing I have is ask good questions. Ask good questions to them. This is going to show them that you are thinking and visualizing about the job. This formula to interview success has been used by nearly all of my clients and I'm sure that you will be successful in your interview too when you apply it.

Now, you only want to ask them questions that help you make a decision about whether you want to work there or not. You don't want to ask them meaningless questions. You want your questions to have some value where their answer helps you make a decision about whether you want to work there or not.

So, that's number one; ask good questions that are going to help you decide whether you want to work there. And when they see that you're asking these real questions, maybe “What's it like to work there? How are you going to evaluate my performance?” whatever it is; whatever is important to you.

You see, what's important to me in a job is going to be different to what's important to you in a job. So, that's why you want to ask questions that make a difference to you, that educate you, where that answer educates you about them and it helps you make a decision about whether this is a place that you want to be or not. That's the whole point of asking questions. You don't want to ask questions just for the sake of asking questions.
Now, I have a whole list of potential questions that you can ask there in the Complete Interview Answer Guide, but you really don't need those. You really don't need those questions. They're just samples. They're meant to help trigger you and to help you think of some other questions that might help educate you, but you really don't need that.

You need to think to yourself, what's important to you in this job and what means the most. Is it travel, like if there's too much travel, would you take the job? So, if we were sitting down and one of your questions was how much travel was required in the position and they said, “Well it's 75 percent”. And you know that you're not willing to travel more than 10 percent, so that employer has just disqualified themselves.

You asked qualifying question and in your mind they failed. They failed with their answer because that's 75 percent. And you know what? That's too much for you. You don't want to do that. So, they're out. You can just exit the interview right there or you can just keep going on for more practice.

But I hope you see what I'm driving at. I hope you see where I'm going; in that it's important for you to ask meaningful questions that help you decide whether you want to work there or not. All right. Makes sense? Let's go on to number 2.

Be flexible: be flexible in the interview, whether it's about scheduling a follow up interview, meeting some other people, providing them references, whatever it is, whatever they're asking for. Be flexible, be accommodating. Show them that you are willing. You don't want to just go in there and if they ask you something, you'll say, “Well, I’ll get back to you. I'll let you know”. Give them an answer. Be decisive. And show them that you are willing to accommodate them, no matter what it takes.

Hi everyone, I'm Jeff and this is my friend Mike, and together we're known as the Interview Guys. Today we're enjoying one of our favorite pastimes...enjoying a cup of coffee and talking about Job Interviews!

Jeff, are you sure you didn't have one cup of coffee too many? You seem a little...excited.

I am excited Mike. But not because of the coffee! Because A lot of people have been asking us to share our best
interview tips, so today we've put together a list of our Top 5 favorites! If you can master these 5 tips, you'll be well
on your way to getting a job offer from your next interview.

And pay special attention to tip #5, because it's the one tip that's really going to set you apart from
you competition and get you on offer from your next interview. So what's the first tip on the list Jeff?

Tip #1 is that you really need to research the company and the position carefully. It's important to know exactly what they do, who their competitors are, and any current events related to the company. Take some time to study their website, but make sure you also know the job description inside out.

Our second tip is that you need to practice! In other words, it's important that you prepare perfect answers to some
of the most commonly asked and toughest interview questions. How do you do that? Well hang on to the end of this video and we'll show you exactly how.

Tip #3 is that you need to prepare a few success stories that you can reference during the interview. What is a success story?
A success story is a story from your past, work or personal life, that highlights an achievement and reflects one of your strengths.

Tip #4 is a very important one. You always need to prepare some questions to ask the interviewer. Why? Because it shows that you are prepared, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the job. Not to mention the fact that it will allow you to learn as much as possible about the company and the position you are interviewing for.

As we said earlier, our final tip is the most important tip on the list. Tip #5 says that you need to tailor your entire interview to the company you are interviewing with.

Most people walk into the interview room with nowhere near enough knowledge of exactly what the company or organization is looking for. You need to find out before hand exactly what the position calls for in an employee as well as exactly what makes up the company's 'perfect candidate. Once you have this information you can position yourself as that perfect candidate by giving tailored interview answers. As we always say: it's not about you, it's about them

If that sounds like a lot to take in, don't worry! Because we've prepared a special report that explains Tip #5 completely and outlines exactly how to prepare perfect answers to every interview question.

That's right. We walk you through our proven step-by-step process for giving perfect interview answers in our hugely popular free special report,
