How I Learned to Code in 6 Months

Meaghan Jones learned to code in only 6 months! She joined Epicodus, landed her dream job working abroad in Brazil, and is now a One Month Python alumni! 🙌)

Her story:

Meaghan Jones graduated from UC Berkeley with a Masters in Latin America Studies. Having grown up in California, Meaghan always dreamed of working and living abroad. She loved Latin America, and so Latin American Politics seemed like her golden ticket to working abroad!

She arrived in Brazil, and hit a wall. At first, Meaghan had a difficult time getting work. She ended up teaching English for a few months, but always had the feeling that she could be doing something more, she wanted to work somewhere that she could continue actively learning on the job, and she wanted a job that matched her creative potential. Meaghan returned to the States, and that’s when she joined Epicodus, a coding bootcamp in Portland, OR. Meaghan worked hard, and learned to code in just 6 months.

Since graduating from Epicodus’s coding bootcamp Meaghan has landed a job at Hotjar, working remotely from San Paolo, Brazil.

How to learn to code (quickly and easily!)

Ex-Google tech lead Patrick Shyu explains how to learn to code quickly and easily, with this one weird trick! It's so simple with this 1-step program!

Are you looking to hack into the mainframe, bypassing the system security lock to gain root access into the private kernel? Well, if I can do it, so can you!

* ABOUT SITTING: It is highly unhealthy to sit for long periods of time. I always get up and take a short break every 30 minutes. Note though that even with breaks, it is known that long periods of general inactivity will put your body to sleep and you need to take longer walks/jogs throughout the day to keep up a healthy metabolism. Take care of your back/neck posture as well.

Can You Really Learn Anything In 3 Months?

So, recently I did a video called Coding Is Not The Same As Programming and I've received a lot of comments on there. Definitely, it was one of my most popular videos and it polarized all my viewers.

However, one of the comments gathered my attention. Here are some of the comments that made me record this video:

No, no, no, no, no. If you think people can become even a remotely decent programmer in 3 months, you are not just over optimistic, You are flat out wrong. An the claim that you could in a focus 3 months become a better biologist than some one who has been doing it for 10 years, you are caching a check that your ass can't cover. You sir are a fraud!

Simple Programmer is completely delusional in this video, sure you could write 4 novels in 3 months but they would all suck, there is no way you would be able to learn 4 real instruments in 3 months time, by real instruments I mean drums, guitar, piano, etc. not something like a shaker, get real dude, no matter how much adderall or ritalin you go on you're stretching the limit quite a bit. Focus is one thing, but time put in is another thing.

So, it really got me thinking and I decided to record a video about that. Are these people right? Couldn't you learn anything you wanted in 3 months? Are they right or am I wrong?

Watch this video and find out!
