In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of shares 9 tips to improve your personality. If you follow these 9 tips you will have a better personality.

Personality is our typically pattern of thinking, feeling, acting, and communicating. It's what you do consistently across the board. Aaron Marino of alpha m. wants you to think of someone who you think has a magnetic personality.
What about their personality makes someone have a 'good personality'?
It's hard to nail down because there are so many aspects of a personality. Alpha M. has broken down personality into traits which each can be improved to improve personality overall.

1. Be a better listener - engage, put phone down, make eye contact

2. Become more interesting - engaging and actively seeking out education and information

3. Practice and adopt a more optimistic outlook on life - talk about positive things and look at things differently

4. Be encouraging and supportive to others - people raise you up with positive energy

5. Have integrity and treat people with respect

6. Don't talk about people, make fun of other people, and gossip

7. Don't be afraid to be yourself

8. Have the ability to laugh at yourself

9. Do things that you need to do daily to facilitate your confidence - if you like what you see looking back in the mirror and know you bring value to the world, this confidence will transition to everything in your life.

Alan Watts on How to make Yourself a Better Person

This is the revised version of the “Alan Watts on How to make yourself a Better Person” video I recently made. I had over 1,300,000 views when I deleted the video. On July 4th 2017 I deleted all my videos on You Tube and since I have been revising them and re-uploading them.

I have the original version of Part 1 with edits (Same audio track with no background music but the video clips and images are different) that we uploaded to the Mind444 Channel. Here is a link

Here is the transcript to this video:

The Background music is: Time by Hans Zimmer

#AlanWatts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British #philosopher, #writer, and #speaker, best known as an interpreter and populariser of Eastern #philosophy for a Western audience. Born in Chislehurst, England, he moved to the United States in 1938 and began #Zen training in New York. Pursuing a career, he attended Seabury-Western #Theological Seminary, where he received a master's degree in theology. Watts became an Episcopal priest in 1945, then left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies.

Watts gained a large following in the San Francisco Bay Area while working as a volunteer programmer at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that #Buddhism could be thought of as a form of #psychotherapy and not a religion. He considered Nature, Man and Woman (1958) to be, from a literary point of view—the best book I have ever written. He also explored human consciousness, in the essay The New Alchemy (1958), and in the book The Joyous Cosmology (1962).

Towards the end of his life, he divided his time between a houseboat in Sausalito and a cabin on Mount Tamalpais. Many of his books are now available in digital format and many of his recorded talks and lectures are available on the Internet. According to the critic Erik Davis, his writings and recorded talks still shimmer with a profound and galvanizing lucidity -Wikipedia

How to Be a Better Person in 2018

Making resolutions to be a better person is a hugely important activity - even if we can't always stick to every last one. Here is a list of suggested moves for how to be a slightly nicer person to live around in the new year. For gifts and more from The School of Life, visit our online shop:

Or visit us in person at our London HQ:

“Why does being ‘a good person’ have such a bad name? In the modern world, the idea of trying to be good or kind conjures up all sorts of negative associations: of piety, solemnity, bloodlessness and sexual renunciation. It’s telling that ‘wicked’ has even become a term of praise.
And yet the project of being good is as vital, or even more important, for the individual and society as is the project of being healthy. Yet while we have no problem with going to the gym to get fitter, it sounds deeply weird, even creepy, to suggest that one might ‘work’ at being better or nicer…”

How to let go of being a good person — and become a better person | Dolly Chugh

What if your attachment to being a good person is holding you back from actually becoming a better person? In this accessible talk, social psychologist Dolly Chugh explains the puzzling psychology of ethical behavior -- like why it's hard to spot your biases and acknowledge mistakes -- and shows how the path to becoming better starts with owning your mistakes. In every other part of our lives, we give ourselves room to grow -- except in this one, where it matters most, Chugh says.
