Jim Rohn: Make a Commitment to Yourself
How dramatically we can change our results is largely a function of imagination.

In 1960, it was a technological impossibility for man to travel into outer space. However, within 10 years, the first man stepped out onto the surface of the moon. The miraculous process of converting that dream into reality began when one voice challenged the scientific community to do whatever was necessary to see to it that America places a man on the moon by the end of this decade. That challenge awakened the spirit of a nation by planting the seed of possible future achievement into the fertile soil of imagination.
With that one bold challenge, the impossible became a reality.

The same principle applies to every other area of our life.

Can a poor person become wealthy? Of course! The unique combination of desire, planning, effort and perseverance will always work its magic. The question is not whether the formula for success will work, but rather whether the person will work the formula. That is the unknown variable. That is the challenge that confronts us all.

We can all go from wherever we are to wherever we want to be. No dream is impossible provided we first have the courage to believe in it.

Jim Rohn: Keeping Your Commitments to Yourself ( Jim Rohn Psychology )

Leslie Calvin Les Brown (born February 17, 1945) is an American motivational speaker, author, radio DJ, former television host, and former politician. As a politician, Brown is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives. As a motivational speaker, Les Brown uses the catch phrase it's possible! and teaches people to follow their dreams as Les Brown learned to do. Les Brown was the host of The Les Brown Show.

Brown was born with his twin brother, Wesley, in an abandoned building in Liberty City, a low-income section of Miami, Florida. Les Brownwas subsequently given up for adoption and adopted by Mamie Brown, a 38-year-old single woman who worked as a cafeteria attendant and domestic assistant. Les Brown was declared educable mentally retarded while in grade school. Despite the self-esteem and confidence loss issues this created, Les Brown learned how to reach his full potential with the encouragement of his mother and assistance from a helpful teacher in high school, a key point in many motivational speeches Les Brown gives.

According to many of Brown's speeches, he first decided to get into public radio and kept returning to the same radio station time and time again looking for a break. It wasn't until the on-air failures of the afternoon DJ that he took his break in radio into his own hands and was hired full-time as on-air talent. Upon his termination from the radio station, he ran for election in the Ohio House of Representatives and won. After leaving the Ohio state legislature, he decided to get into television and eventually ended up on PBS. Les Brown also formed Les Brown Enterprises in order to support his newest career as a motivational speaker and was on KFWB in California on a daily syndicated radio program from 2011 to 2012. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he also won many local and national awards for excellence and he has an Emmy to his name. Brown was a member of the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors from 1982 to 1988.

In 1993, Les Brown began hosting a new talk show, The Les Brown Show, which began airing on September 6, 1993. After nearly four months, it went on hiatus on December 3, 1993, and on January 17, 1994, King World Productions replaced this with Rolonda, a show hosted by Rolonda Watts.

Les collaborated with John C. Maxwell and The John Maxwell Team for a candid look into the lives of professional speakers called The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Jim Rohn - 4 Questions to Ask Yourself Everyday (Jim Rohn Motivation)

Take care to feed and stimulate your brain and you will expand your mind. The two are inextricably connected. We need to see the human brain and mind with wonder, awe and inspiration.

The brain is the equivalent of a human supercomputer. It is more complicated than any computer mankind has ever made, and maximizing its ability is essential to becoming the success you want to be—because it controls who you are. It is the command center involved in and controlling absolutely everything you do, determining how you think, feel and act.
Change your beliefs.
Many people do not believe that they can learn, master knowledge or become smart. These are deeply held beliefs for many, and ultimately, if we do not believe it, we will not achieve it.

So change your beliefs. It is up to you to do the work of changing your beliefs. And when you do, you will be opening up new worlds—literally! Feed your mind with information that will change your belief. The truth is that you have an amazing mind with a capacity for learning that is beyond your comprehension. You must believe this. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind.
Get the right knowledge.
What keeps some people from learning is that they choose not to access or do not have access to knowledge. Knowledge comes from experiences, books, people and other knowledge dispensers. We must tap into that knowledge.
Become passionate about learning.
Some people simply do not have the desire to learn. They may be lazy, or they may not see the positive impact that learning would have on them. They have no passion inside that drives them to learn.
Discipline yourself through the hard work of study.
Gaining knowledge is hard work and takes a lifetime to master. It is an ongoing discipline that is never complete.

SELF COMMITMENT - Motivational Video (ft Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins & Les Brown)

Success takes commitment. Success takes time. To experience success in any area of your life, you have to be able to push past life’s road blocks. Commit to not quit! Focus your thoughts on the prize you seek, not the challenges. One of my favorite remedies for the tough times is saying aloud, “I will not be defeated and I will not quit.” Repeat as needed.

Commitment requires discipline. If you’ve made a commitment – to yourself or someone else, use discipline to fulfill that promise. Not only will it help you reach your goals, you’ll feel better about yourself in the process

Jim Rohn: Are You Ambitious Enough For Success? ( Jim Rohn Coaching )

Ambition and courage are synonymous, and admirable qualities.

The ambitious, ‘Those who have the courage to work hard and sacrifice other areas of their lives in the pursuit of a goal’, are admired. But is hard work, making a lot of money, and sacrificing other areas of your life really the sum of ambition? Or is ambition something more, and of far greater importance?

Ambition isn’t merely working long hours, conquering tribulation, and seeing a journey to its end, although that’s a reality that many ambitious people face. Ambition is “the reason for our existence“, as Pressfield puts it. It’s our soul telling us where meaning in life is found. It’s a large part of what gives our life purpose.

Where most fail to heed their soul’s ambitious call is in a lack of courage, and eventually a lack of persistence.

Jim Rohn: Make a Commitment to Yourself

Jim Rohn: Learn This, and You'll Never Be The Same

Jim Rohn: Learn This, and You'll Never Be The Same
“Every life form seems to strive to its maximum except human beings. How tall will a tree grow? As tall as it possibly can. Human beings, on the other hand, have been given the dignity of choice. You can choose to be all or you can choose to be less. Why not stretch up to the full measure of the challenge and see what all you can do?”
— Jim Rohn
And for those who attempt to reach their maximum, the rewards are huge.
So if you nurture your hunger for growth, and I know you do, because you are here on Zero to Skill and reading articles just like this one, then you will have an edge in life.
Usually, when someone subscribes to my private list, the first thing I ask them is:
“What is the one thing stopping you from learning a new skill?”
I’ve received a lot of responses, but this one pretty much captures what most of us are going through:
“Too many things to learn, too many choices… and scarce time”

Jim Rohn: THE LION ATTITUDE (PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT)

Jim Rohn: THE LION ATTITUDE (PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT)

No matter what skills you need to sharpen to move ahead toward your vision, the first skill most people need to hone is attitude. You can call it perspective, approach, or mindset—but it all comes down to the same concept. How you think about your life and your business is the first essential part of success.

And yes, the right attitude for success is a skill. Developing the right attitude for success might seem simple, but it’s a lifetime endeavor.

Why? Because each new challenge, every setback, and any roadblock can blast away your positive attitude and replace it with dread, depression, or defeatism.

“The worst thing one can do is not to try, to be aware of what one wants and not give in to it, to spend years in silent hurt wondering if something could have materialized – never knowing,” Rohn said.

That sad outcome is one too many people are familiar with – you likely know someone who didn’t pursue their greatest dream and regretted it deeply.

You don’t have to go down that road. Instead, you can pick up the essential tool of a success attitude and choose a brighter path.

To develop your own attitude of success, you’ve got to determine what success means for you. Ask yourself:

What makes life valuable?
What makes life worthwhile?
What makes life work well in all areas?

The answers to these questions will help you define success for yourself. It might look like travel with your family, financial freedom, your own business or a certain promotion, robust health, and a sense of peace and well-being. Try to be specific as you consider the successful life you’d like to lead.

The next step is considering what thoughts, ideas, and beliefs will support this life.

For example, if your family and friends make life worthwhile, then you need an idea on how to spend more time with them. You need the daily thought of your family’s well-being, and you need the core belief that family obligations are more important than professional ones. Without that, all the calendar reminders in the world won’t get you home in time for dinner with your spouse and children.

Your attitude, or as Rohn called it, your personal philosophy, is the first step toward success on any path.

“While there are many puzzle pieces for success,” Rohn said, “without developing a sound personal philosophy, the other pieces are of little value.”

Jim Rohn: Self Discipline (Jim Rohn motivation)

Jim Rohn: Self Discipline (Jim Rohn motivation)

Rohn: The Key to Getting All You Want? Discipline
Without the discipline of paying constant, daily attention, we take things for granted. Be serious. Life is not a practice session.
Jim Rohn January 31, 2016
For every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards. That's one of life's great arrangements. If you sow well, you will reap well. Life is full of laws that both govern and explain behaviors, but the law of sowing and reaping may well be the major law we need to understand: For every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards.
Everything of value requires care, attention and discipline. Our thoughts require discipline. We must consistently determine our inner boundaries and our codes of conduct, or our thoughts will be confused. And if our thoughts are confused, we will become hopelessly lost in the maze of life. Confused thoughts produce confused results.

Remember the law: For every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards. Learn the discipline of writing a card or a letter to a friend. Learn the discipline of paying your bills on time, or arriving to appointments on time, or using your time more effectively. Learn the discipline of paying attention, or paying your taxes, or paying yourself. Learn the discipline of having regular meetings with your associates, or your spouse, or your child, or your parent. Learn the discipline of learning all you can learn, of teaching all you can teach, of reading all you can read.

The most valuable form of discipline is the one that you impose upon yourself. Don't wait for things to deteriorate so drastically that someone else must impose discipline in your life. Wouldn't that be tragic? How could you possibly explain the fact that someone else thought more of you than you thought of yourself? That they forced you to get up early and get out into the marketplace when you would have been content to let success go to someone else who cared more about themselves.

Your life, my life, the life of each one of us is going to serve as either a warning or an example. A warning of the consequences of neglect, self-pity, lack of direction and ambition... or an example of talent put to use, of discipline self-imposed, and of objectives clearly perceived and intensely pursued.
