Losing a Parent

Rest in Peace.. You meant more to us than life itself. I never knew this much pain, sadness, and sorrow were possible until you left us. I want to thank you for raising us and for literally everything.. I wish we could give you one last hug and make it last forever. If I could put all the words in every language together, it wouldn't express how much we love you. We love you more than everything.
Not a day won't go by that we won't think of you.. You will continue to live on in our hearts and memories forever and we'll honor you by becoming the man you are.
We hope to see you again one day and give you that hug.

Rest In Peace Sweet Soul

Requiem - Coping With the Loss of a Parent | Adeline Woltkamp | TEDxValenciaHighSchool

Losing a beloved parent as a teenager feels like your whole world is crashing down, making it difficult to connect to certain aspects of the way your life was before. Loss can be all-consuming, compartamentalized, or pain you learn to live with - true grief is different for everyone. But for everyone, it CAN be difficult to re-establish your groove with acquaintances, friends, and loved ones once your perspective shifts and your life is changing. This talk touches upon reaching out and relying on the love and support of people and communities, in whatever form it may come, during difficult periods. This TEDx talk is dedicated to Anthony Woltkamp, who passed away on October 20, 2018.

Cancer Communication Community Compassion Death Emotions Empathy Family Health Life Memory Mental health Pain Parenting Relationships Self-help Adeline Woltkamp is a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Valencia, a Tiger Tutor as part of the National Honor Society, as well as a member of the Valencia Tiger Regiment marching and jazz bands (she was Drum Major!). Her hobbies include reading, writing, listening to music, and telling herself she’ll only watch one more episode of Jane the Virgin but then watching six because they all end on cliffhangers. She would like to thank Mrs. Filowitz for having her back no matter what and working to make this experience possible. She would also like to thank her family for supporting her on her educational journey and throughout everything she does. Adeline’s TEDx talk is dedicated to her father, Anthony Woltkamp, who passed away on October 20, 2018. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

300 Questions to ask your parents before its too late:
The book of me:

- Create memories with your parent and take pictures and videos of those memories

- Rituals can help
Try InTune - you can create your own ritual and pick the music that reminds you of your loved one:

- You can still have a relationship with your parent even after they've passed away

- There's a before & after with loss. Life looks different afterwards and it takes time to accept that and find a new rhythm to your life.

- We need to discuss death and the process of dying more often. It's better to discuss these things before a crisis moment.

- Get support. Experiencing loss is one of the best times to seek out help from a therapist. ( &

Losing a Parent at a Young Age | My Experience

The death of a parent at any age is a huge loss. Today, I share my experience losing my Dad when I was seventeen. After a 6-month battle with Cardiac Amyloidosis brought on by Waldtrom’s Syndrome, he passed away. And over the past 6 years, I have learned a lot about life after the death of a parent. I’m sharing this personal experience for anyone who has lost a parent, family member, friend, or loved one. I hope I was able to shed some light on an uncomfortable situation and make you feel less alone in your grieving journey. Thank you so much for watching.

Disclaimer: This is my personal experience. I know every situation is different and the way I responded to loss may be different from yours. I have also learned that I have a tendency to smile a lot when I talk about hard experiences and I don’t want that to be misconstrued for a lack of sincerity or genuineness, it’s more so my way of dealing with a difficult moment in my life.

It's one thing to lose a parent, it's another thing to lose a best friend.

7 Lessons Learned After Losing a Parent

Losing My Mum | Dealing With Loss & Grief

Hey angels, thank you so much for all of the love & support you've shown me over through the last few weeks after I lost my mum, and more specifically, for the overwhelming kindness on my tribute video to her (which you can watch here:

This is my story about losing my beautiful mum to a brain tumour at the age of 54. As hard as this was, it was really important for me to make this video to raise awareness for brain tumours, cancer, dealing with loss & grief and for showing other young people out there who's parents are battling cancer that they are not alone.

I love you guys so much and I am so grateful for your friendship. See you again very soon xxx
