Making The Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme At Home | But Better

Next up for But Better Ep. 6 we are tackling the heavy clouted taco bell chicken crunchwrap supreme. Can we survive this one? Yes. Yes we can.

Ingredients you'll need:
Tortilla:
2.5 cups (360g) all purpose
1tsp (8g) baking power
2tsp (7g) kosher
1/2 cup (100g) pork fat
2/3 cup (160ml) hot water

Roast Chicken:
2 Split bone in chicken
1 bunch parsley
2 heads of garlic
orange slices
olive oil for drizzling
salt and pepper to taste

Spice Crema Sauce:
1/2 cup (125g) sour cream
2 tablespoons (25g) mayo
2 tablespoons (25g) jalapeño salsa
2 teaspoons(4g) gar pow
1.5 teaspoons (2g) chipotle
2 teaspoons (3g) sweet paprika
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt to taste

Herb Salad:
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced
1/2 bunch cilantro, rough chopped
zest of 1 orange.

Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme Recipe

When it comes to ridiculously amazing fast-food hybrids, Taco Bell is a top contender. Let's take its Crunchwrap Supreme, for example. It's a genius concept to grill a taco-burrito hybrid until it's crispy on the outside. But you don't have to leave the comfort of your home to get a Crunchwrap fix now that we can show you how to grill the wrap in your own kitchen.

INGREDIENTS

1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning mix
3/4 cup water
1 can nacho cheese
8 burrito-size flour tortillas
6 tostada shells
1 cup sour cream
2 cups lettuce, shredded
1 cup tomato, diced
1 cup Mexican cheese blend
Cooking spray

DIRECTIONS

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef until cooked through. Drain excess grease, and stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Cook according to the package directions.
Warm the nacho cheese sauce in a microwave-safe bowl. Place the flour tortillas on a large plate and microwave for 20 seconds to warm them.

Lay 1 flour tortilla on a flat surface. Spread 1/2 cup of taco meat in the center of the tortilla, about 6 inches across. Drizzle with nacho cheese sauce, and top with 1 tostada shell or crispy corn tortilla. Spread a thin layer of sour cream over the tostada shell, and top with lettuce, tomato, and shredded Mexican cheese.

To fold the crunch wrap, start at the bottom of the flour tortilla and fold the edge up and over the center. Continue to work your way around, folding the tortilla up and over the center fillings. If there is an open spot left in the center, cut a piece from an extra flour tortilla and tuck it underneath so the fillings are completely covered.

Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray, and heat to a medium heat. Place the crunch wrap seam-side down, and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the tortilla is golden brown. Carefully flip the crunch wrap over, and cook the other side until it is golden brown. Serve immediately.

While we've been stuck at home, the kids (who am I kidding...) I have been craving some of the fast food goodies that we used to go out and get as a family.

The Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme isn't exactly a secret recipe. I mean, you can see them right there putting it together while you stand at the counter. But, if you're like me, you usually just drive out and get one rather than think about making this delicacy at home.

We prance the kids out in front of the camera and have them recreate one of their favorites from Taco Bell on this episode of The Barbecue Lab.

1 Flour Tortilla
1 Yellow Corn Tortilla
3 oz 96% Lean Ground Beef
1 Packet Taco Bell Seasoning Mix
1/8 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 Tbsp Fat Free Sour Cream
1/4 Cup Diced Tomatoes
1/4 Cup Shredded Lettuce
2 Packets Mild, Hot, Fire Sauce

How To Make Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme At Home With A SECRET Ingredient

This Crunchwrap Supreme is way better than Taco Bell's! We take it to the next level by using Doritos instead of a tostada. Let's make it!

CRUNCHWRAP SUPREME RECIPE

Ingredients:
-1 pound ground beef, 85/15
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-2 teaspoons minced garlic
-1 teaspoon coriander
-1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
-1 teaspoon smoked paprika
-2 teaspoons chili powder
-1 teaspoon cumin
-1 teaspoon oregano
-1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-1/4 teaspoon onion powder
-2 tablespoons tomato sauce
-1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
-shredded lettuce
-chopped tomatoes
-large flour tortillas
-Doritos or tostadas
-sour cream
-nacho cheese
-shredded Mexican cheese blend

Directions:
1. In a pan over medium heat, add olive oil and garlic until golden. Now add ground beef.
2. Add all the spices to the ground beef and start to mash with a spatula or wooden spoon to break up.
3. Once the meat is browned and minced finely, add tomato sauce and cilantro. Mix and take off heat. Allow to cool slightly for a few minutes
4. Grab a large flour tortilla and spread some nacho cheese in the center. Add the taco meat on top.
5. Layer the Doritos on top of the meat. If using a tostada, spread sour cream on top of the tostada, then place on the meat.
6. Add the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese on top.
7. Cut out a small circle from a large tortilla. Spread sour cream on top. Place sour cream side down.
8. Wrap and seal the Crunchwrap.
9. Place on a greased pan or brush both sides with a bit of mayo, folded side down. Toast on both sides to golden brown perfection.

AVOCADO RANCH SAUCE

Ingredients:
-1 large ripe avocado
-1/3 cup ranch
-juice of 1/2 small lime
-2 tablespoons cilantro, finely chopped
-1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-1 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced
-2 tablespoons jalapeño, finely minced
-optional: cayenne powder for a kick, jalapeño juice

Directions:
1. In a bowl, mash avocado into a paste.
2. Add the ranch, lime juice, cilantro, black pepper, garlic, jalapeño, and optional cayenne powder. Mix all together and enjoy.

Tip: If you like a more smooth sauce, mix the ingredients in a food processor. If you like the sauce more thin, add some jalapeño juice.

To me, there's almost nothing better than pulling up to Taco Bell at 3am after leaving the club in an Uber and ordering enough food for 4 full grown adults. Well guess what, you can make their classics AT HOME. Yeah crazy right?? Well I done did it. I made a Gourmet Crunchwrap Supreme in the comfort of my kitchen (no Uber required). ????‍???? And oh my god this might be the best thing I've ever made. Not even joking. Also surprised it came out so good. Check out my newest vlog and I'll walk you through every single step. Live Mas. ????

DIY Triple Double Crunchwrap Supreme

I think Taco Bell's realized that they can fit more stuff into their crunchwraps, so instead of giving you more meat, they'll just throw in an inexpensive corn tortilla which from a business standpoint is absolutely genius. For our version we decided to go the Hellthy route and not only add more meat, but try a second iteration giving you three different types of meat as well. The options are endless here and I would bet some heavy money that Taco Bell will have another crunchwrap give or take 6 months in the future.

• Cast Iron Skillet:

Ingredients:
• Giant Flour Tortillas
• 80/20 Ground Beef
• 6 Corn Tortillas
• Taco Seasoning
• Nacho Cheese
• Reduced Fat Sour Cream
• Diced Tomatoes
• Shredded Lettuce

Optional Meat:
• Steak & Chicken... or Pork... Fish? Why not

Directions:

1.) Skip to step 6 if you know how to cook meat

2.) For the chicken we went with a pressure cooked method so we could get pull apart shredded chicken that's moist and seasoned. Add chicken to pressure cooker or slow cooker with 1 tbsp oil, 1 chicken bouillon cube and water until the chicken is submerged completely. Add in your taco seasoning generously, roughly 1 tbsp per chicken breast. Set it and forget it when its done you shred it.

3.) For the steak, rub it down in oil and seasoned it with taco seasoning. Make sure the steak is room temperature before searing. Sear on a cast iron skillet, medium high heat for 2-3 minutes per side. Let it rest for at least 10 minutes. If you want the steak well done, finish it off in the oven.

4.) Brown ground beef, drain grease and blitz the ground beef chunks in a food processor to get a finer consistency. This is optional, but the texture will taste like Taco Bell. Add your seasoning & water, bring to boil and let simmer for 10 minutes.

5.) We decided to deep fry the corn tortillas to give it that extra crunch / crisp. Fry for 2 minutes or until you get the consistency you desire.

6.) Assemble the Triple Double: Large Flour Tortilla, Nacho Cheese, Beef, Corn Tortilla, Nacho Cheese, Beef, Corn Tortilla, Sour Cream, Lettuce, Tomato, Fold. Grease both sides and grill 2 minutes per side on medium heat or until golden brown. Cut & Enjoy.

7.) Assemble the Quadruple Triple: Large Flour Tortilla, Nacho Cheese, Steak, Corn Tortilla, Nacho Cheese, Shredded Chicken, Corn Tortilla, Nacho Cheese, Beef, Corn Tortilla, Sour Cream, Lettuce, Tomato, Fold. Grease both sides and grill 2 minutes per side on medium heat or until golden brown. Cut & Enjoy.

6 ancho chilies
5 guajillo chilies
3 roma tomatoes
1 onion
5 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon fresh oregano

1/4 cup white vinegar or acid of choice
1 tablespoon (14g) panela grated
Salt to taste

Beans:
3tbsp (42g) unsalted butter
1 onion
4 cloves garlic
2 jalapeños
2 cans black beans
1.5 cup chicken stock
Salt and pepper to taste

Ground Beef:
1 lb ground beef
3 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon soy sauce
seasonings/spices of choice (chili pepper powders work great here)
salt to taste

Assembly:
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup grated Monterey jack
2/3 cup crumbled cotija cheese
pickled red onions
