Secretive program tracked UFOs for 5 years
The now-defunct secretive federal program designed to track unidentified flying objects is facing new scrutiny while some officials deem it a national security priority. CNN's Brian Todd reports.
Meet the Top Gun Pilot Who Chased a UFO in an F/A-18F Super Hornet
WINDHAM, N.H. — In 2004, David Fravor, then a Lt. Commander and aviator in the U.S. Navy, saw something in the skies he'd never seen before. He wasn't sure what it was, but he decided to follow it in his F/A-18 Super Hornet, and became convinced that the object's maneuvering could not be explained by the existing capabilities of modern aircraft.
“It was far beyond the technology that we have,” he told VICE News.

Pentagon releases 'UFO' videos filmed by US Navy pilots
The Pentagon has released three declassified videos showing US Navy pilots encountering what appear to be unidentified flying objects (UFOs) “to clear up any misconceptions”.
The videos had previously been leaked.
The Pentagon said it released the footage to “to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real or whether or not there is more to the videos.
A statement on the Department of Defense website said: “After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.”

US Navy confirms UFO videos are the real deal
The US Navy has confirmed that certain UFO videos made public over the past several years do indeed show unidentified aerial phenomena. #CNN #News
Watch the Pentagon's three declassified UFO videos taken by U.S. Navy pilots
The declassification of the videos late Monday was to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, the Pentagon said in a statement Monday. The footage, which shows unidentified objects flying at high speeds in the Earth's atmosphere along with audio of Navy pilots expressing shock and awe, was initially leaked in 2007 and 2017. The U.S. Navy formalized a reporting process last year for pilots to report incidents of UFO sightings.
The Department of Defense released three videos taken by U.S. Navy pilots revealing mysterious flying objects that to this day remain unidentified.
The declassification of the videos late Monday, one of which was taken in 2004 and the subsequent two taken in 2015, was meant to “clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos,” the Pentagon said in a statement Monday.
The footage, which shows unidentified objects flying at high speeds in the Earth’s atmosphere along with audio of Navy pilots expressing shock and awe, was initially leaked in 2007 and 2017. The videos were taken during training flights and the 2017 leaks were published by the New York Times.
“The U.S. Navy previously acknowledged that these videos circulating in the public domain were indeed Navy videos,” the Pentagon’s statement read. “After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.”
“The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified’,” it said.

The Pentagon has declassified three previously leaked top secret U.S. Navy videos that show unexplained aerial phenomena and that some believe could show Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) in an effort to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real or whether or not there is more to the videos, said a Pentagon spokesperson.

035 - UFOs
Convinced we’re alone in the universe? Think everyone who believes in UFOs is a lot like Randy Quaid’s character, Russel, in 20th Century Fox’s original Independence Day?
Get ready to entertain doubts after listening to this week’s episode with retired US Navy Commander David “Sex” Fravor (you may recognize him from numerous appearances on the 2008 PBS series, Carrier). You’ll be amazed to hear events that transpired off the coast of Mexico in November 2004—events witnessed not just by Commander Fravor but by three other aviators in his flight and several others on subsequent flights.
Cutting edge technology from the AEGIS radar system aboard the USS Princeton, a nearby Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, to the Super Hornet’s radar and TFLIR systems recorded the day’s events. And yet, doubts and questions linger as to what was actually witnessed. The listener will have to decide for him- or herself.
During the listener question segment of this episode, we discuss mid-90’s flight simulators, math formulae used airborne, air intercepts, and IFF use in training.
Episode artwork is actual FLIR footage of the event as captured on November 14, 2004. Bumper music by Jaime Lopez.
