The History of Europe [2600 BC - 2020 AD] Every year

The history of Europe covers the peoples inhabiting Europe from prehistory to the present. The period known as classical antiquity began with the emergence of the city-states of ancient Greece. Later, the Roman Empire came to dominate the entire Mediterranean basin. The fall of the Roman Empire in AD 476 traditionally marks the start of the Middle Ages. Beginning in the 14th century a Renaissance of knowledge challenged traditional doctrines in science and theology. Simultaneously, the Protestant Reformation set up Protestant churches primarily in Germany, Scandinavia and England. After 1800, the Industrial Revolution brought prosperity to Britain and Western Europe. The main powers set up colonies in most of the Americas and Africa, and parts of Asia. In the 20th century, World War I and World War II resulted in massive numbers of deaths.

Timeline of National Flags: Europe

More than half a millennia of Europe's history in countries and flags. See the rise and fall of empires old and new, along with a little bit of the surrounding continents.

Disputed territories such as Kosovo, South Ossetia, Nagorno-Karabakh (now known as Artsakh), Crimea, are shown without a line separating them.

De facto control is shown with de jure borders (e.g. Bulgaria is shown before its de jure independence, Islamic State, etc.)

Russia is represented with its coat of arms on a red background until 1668.

Ireland is represented using its earldom flag, though in reality it was broken up into many smaller states.

Without enough flag information and pixels, the Holy Roman Empire is shown as a single state, though some states in the HRE are shown. All states are shown after 1806.

Semi-independent Persian/Azerbaijani states are shown because why not.

Holy Roman Empire: Blue outline
Confederation of the Rhine: Green outline
German Confederation: Red outline

Music and information credits at the end of the video. Stop asking in the comments and read! I applaud you if you are reading this :)

Spelled precarious incorrectly. :/

Deutsch--Zeitplan der Nationalflaggen: Europa
Español--Cronología de banderas nacionales: Europa
Français--Chronologie des drapeaux nationaux: Europe
Nederlands--Tijdlijn van nationale vlaggen: Europa
Português--Cronologia de bandeiras nacionais: Europa
Русский--Хронология государственных флагов: Европа

Known errors:

The flag of Finland should have a lighter hue on the frames 1918-1919.

A slight border error on the Second Partition of Poland.

The flag of Spain should not have the crown in 1873.

Estonia and Latvia should have slightly more territory on its eastern border during the Interwar Period.

Portugal should own Olivenza from the beginning until the frame 1800 when it is ceded to Spain.

History of Germany : Every year

This video shows the history of Germany and Austria from the foundation of east Francia to today.
Occupied territories aren't shown until 1789 and all the states inside the HRE aren't shown, but only a few.

This neither show the origins of German people (Germanic tribes...) nor Teutonic order (and many other German things...) because this is a video about the history of germany, not a video about the history of Germans.

Europe: Timeline of National Flags: 1000 - 2019

See the past millennium of European history from 1000 to the present. Also see periods such as the crusades, medieval period, mongol invasions, black plague, renaissance, age of discovery, protestant reformation, rise of the ottomans, thirty years war, war of the Spanish succession, age of enlightenment, french revolution, napoleon, unification of Italy and Germany,
both world wars, the cold war, and the modern era, all with flags.

Keep in mind the concept of a national flag, is rather a modern term. Take the first few centuries of the video with a pinch of salt, and it could be off.

The flags in centuries up until about the 19th century often were royal standards.

Timelapse of Every Battle in History

This video shows every battle referenced on Wikipedia (10,624). Every battle is represented by a dot. Dots stay on the map for a while and then disappear.

List of every battle on Wikipedia :

• Battles are included only if they have a Wikipedia article
• Each country can only have 1 predecessor state at the same time (eg. the UK's predecessor is England, but not Scotland)

I used Wikipedia as a directory of battles:

1. I created a query with Wikidata Query to get the list of all articles tagged as battle by Wikipedia. This gives me about 12,000 battles

2. I downloaded the data that is included in the top right hand table of every of those Wikipedia article. I did it for the following versions of Wikipedia: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Greek, Turkish, Serbo-Croatian, Japanese, Danish, Norwegian, Slovakian, Dutch, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Hindi, Hebrew, Basque, Bulgarian, Romanian, Catalan, Finnish, Swedish, Vietnamese, Persian, Indonesian, Korean

3. I cleaned up the data on Excel to remove double entries and obtained 10,624 unique battles

4. I created an index of countries with their predecessor states:
• France (476 - 2018): Frankish Kingdom, Frankish Empire, West Francia, Kingdom of France, French Empire, French Republic
• UK-England (927 - 2018): Kingdom of England, Commonwealth of England, Great Britain, United Kingdom
• USA (1776 - 2018): American patriots, USA
• Russia (882 - 2018) : Kievan Rus', Muscovy, Russian Empire, Bolsheviks, USSR, Russian Federation
• Germany (843 - 2018) : East Francia, Kingdom of Germany, Holy Roman Empire, Confederation of the Rhine, German Confederation, North German Confederation, German Empire, Germany
• Spain (718 - 2018) : Asturies, León, Castile, Kingdom of Spain
• Poland (960 - 2018) : Kingdom of Poland, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Duchy of Warsaw, Polish insurgents, Poland
• Rome (753 BC - 476) : Roman Kingdom, Roman Republic, Roman Empire, Western Roman Empire
• China (2500 BC – 2018) : Xia, Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han, 3 Kingdoms, Jin, Sui, Tang, 10 Kingdoms, Song, Yuan, Ming, China
• Turkey (1037 - 2018): Seljuk empire, Anatolian Turks, Ottoman Empire, Turkey

Limitations :
- Missing data. You probably noticed that Europe concentrates the majority of battles. Possible explanations include the fact that Wikipedia is used more in Europe, the ban of Wikipedia in China or Turkey, or the lack of documentation of military records in some countries.
Some similar research also found that Europe had more battles than the rest of the world.

Europe: Timeline of National Flags: 1 A.D. - 1000

See a millennium of European history from the rise of Rome to the year 1000 A.D. with flags. Also see the rise and fall of many other empires such as the Romans, Bulgarians, Franks, Avars, and the Byzantines. While seeing many other kingdoms such as the Germanic kingdoms,
and many others.

A few notes:

Some flags such as the Frankish Flag, Lombard Flag, Visigothic Flag, Odoacer's flag, Kingdom of Italy's flag, Byzantine flag, (610) etc. are my educated guesses based on symbolism from that era, so these are not necessarily fake.

The black, and white standards are standards used by the Islamic Caliphates, and many other Islamic emirates, and empires. So in 756, the Umayyad Caliphate isn't restricted to stay in Spain, it splits and becomes the Emirate of Cordoba. The Fihrids in northern Africa was conquered by the Abbasid Caliphate, but later they split and became the Aghlabids. In the 900s, the white flag in Africa isn't the caliphate of Cordoba conquering the area, that is supposed to be the Fatimid Caliphate.

The Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish Kingdoms are represented with their royal standards rather than them being split, I wouldn't have enough room to fit all the kingdoms.

Thank you if you read this.
