The Coastal Titans - Giant California Redwoods Documentary Film (HD) Redwood Forest in Spring 2016

A redwood forest documentary about the Northern California coast redwoods. In June of 2016, I abandoned all responsibility and decided to pursue my dream of making a short documentary film about these massive trees. I spent over a week in the Northern California redwood forest filming nature. The tallest redwood tree in California lives only a short ways from where much of this video took place.

In this film you will see several days of filming various trees and forests. I spent many hours searching for the perfect filming conditions and various wildlife featured in this video.

The worlds tallest redwood tree is over 370 feet tall and is estimated to have lived thousands of years. These amazing trees are found in only a small percentage of the area that they once resided. It is estimated that over 70% of the redwood trees have been logged. They were once found on over 2 million acres of never logged land to freely grow, now they are only found on around one hundred thousand acres.

Tallest Trees on Earth - Redwood National Park California

Sometimes when the morning fog caresses the great trees, you can imagine the past flowing through the long, misty shadows --- Vast redwood forests flourishing across a lush and humid North America ... After the final ice age, a LAST stand here in the sustaining climate along the Pacific coast -- tree after tree falling to the loggers saw.

Tall trees grove trail, Redwood National Park - Tallest trees on Earth ( GoPro HD)

Tall trees trail - Holder of the worlds tallest tree.
Hiking along the possibly over 2000 year old trees were truly a humble experience.

This is the only trail that requires permit.
If you do not mind walking 14 miles on unpaved dusty fire road with 2000 elevation gain , you don't need a permit ;)

we didn't have the permit but luckily we got a ride from a very nice family from Utah.

Permit is free at visitor center. They allow 50 cars per day.

This is a Must hike trail when you visit Redwoods National Park.

Redwood National Park | Prairie Creek VLOG | The Tallest Trees

Redwood National Park | Prairie Creek VLOG | The Tallest Trees

We were lucky enough to have my parents visit us a few weeks ago, so we made a trip to the Redwood Forest. Brynlee absolutely LOVED her Grandma and Grandpa time.

Since drones are not allowed in National Parks, the first half of the video was taken in Arcata's Community Forest just about an hour outside of the Redwood Forest, which honestly looked pretty identical to the national forest because they still had Redwood Trees EVERYWHERE. Walking throughout the forest always feels so peaceful, and even sacred.

Also, can you believe that The Big Tree at Prairie Creek is estimated to be 286 feet tall and 1500 years old?! Nature...isn't it neat? (Does anyone know the reference of this quote ;)
