Elon Musk: The City of the Future

From SpaceX and Tesla, to his own school (Ad Astra), Elon Musk is developing companies and ideas that look to bring humanity forward.

This mini documentary video takes a look at a number of Elon Musk's projects and ideas. And tries to envision what the city of the future will look like.

Such as how self driving electric cars will allow for smaller tunnels. Making way for The Boring Company to develop a mega network of underground tunnels.

Elon Musk: The Scientist Behind the CEO (and How He Teaches Himself) Documentary

This mini documentary takes a look at how Elon Musk sees the world through a scientific and engineering mind - and how this fuels the businesses he has started. We will also take a look at how he taught himself about different industries: from banking (Paypal), to rocket engineering (SpaceX).

Elon Musk champions the use of physics as a way of thinking. And believes that more people should be innovating in manufacturing - to help build the city of the future. Rather than entering the finance, law, or internet based industries. This video also takes a look at the 'reasoning from first principles' framework - which will allow anyone to view their world, personal and business, just like Elon.

Elon Musk announces Starlink to Mars, Starship's stratospheric flight and Moonship in 13 minutes

Elon Musk spoke at The Mars Society on making Starlink for Mars and Moonship on October 17, 2020 and highlights (recap) are here. Within this online conference Elon announced many interesting things. Self sustaining city on Mars is the core aim for Elon Musk's SpaceX and Starship spacecraft prototype. Elon Musk speaks that humanity have to made self sustaining city on Mars before the World War III start. The goal is to put enough people to Mars and enough tonnage. Metane is the general propellant.

When the Starship will make stratosphere flight is currently secret. Elon said that Starship will make the first complete flight next year. Orbital refilling is needed. Moonship to be announced in 2022.

Elon Musk Mars City by 2050

Elon Musk Mars City by 2050

Elon Musk is very keen to get us to Mars, really fast. Musk had a dream of Mars being colonized since he was probably in his teens, however he is only now able to materialize his dreams and ideas. The idea of Mars city might seem odd to some, especially knowing how difficult is to build a simple habitat on Mars, let alone the entire city!

Elon Musk has a plan, however his plan might take some doing. Yes, it will be possible to build a Mars city, well I wouldn’t call it a city, more of a tiny hamlet, but could be done. The Starship will be critical to Musk’s plans. The stainless steel ship is designed to send up to 100 people in space at once. Raptor engine that powers the Starship, uses liquid oxygen and methane and through simple chemical conversion it’ll be possible to convert Carbon Dioxide on Mars in to fuel, using fuel plants that could be integrated in to Starship or sent to Mars beforehand.

The orbital synchronizations Musk is referring to is the point when the Earth and Mars are in closest alignment, which occurs around every 26 months. That’s the ideal time for a launch, as the distance between the two is reduced to around 50-55 million kilometres. Because the two planets follow an egg-shaped orbit, not every alignment is equal.

Elon musk hoped take advantage of the upcoming synchronizations, due in 2022 and 2024. However, this timetable was somewhat optimistic, the plan was to send two unmanned Cargo Starships to Mars in 2022, with each one capable of carrying 100 tons of cargo ready for the first humans. The first manned mission would take place in the second synchronization, 2024, sending two manned Starships alongside two further cargo Starships. The six ships in total would carry around double the mass of the International Space Station.

Musk admitted himself his plan was a long shot. He has since announced plans to send Japanese billionaire Yukazu Maezawa, alongside six to eight artists, on a trip around the moon in 2023. Subsequent comments suggest this could be Starship’s first manned mission.

Each orbital synchronization would likely be dedicated to building out the base, initially focused on life support and fuel production and gradually adding more habitats and support structures and large farm modules for ever growing Martian community. If all goes well, Mars colony could take shape in 10 to 12 years from now.

Recently I’ve posted video of amazing Mars Habitat, entirely built by a swarm of smart Mars rovers that will 3D print the very first habitats on Mars for people to live in. The concept struck me as most ingenious and very smart use of limited resources and absolute reliance on 3D printing and sustainability. If Elon Musk could produce something similar, and just scale it up to industrial scale, he could theoretically with just 2 Starship ensure sizable community on mars can be sustained using only local resources, including water that can be extracted from Martian regolith and air, as well as fuel for Starships.

The longer term, large farming domes and habitats could dominate future Martian landscape, with thousands of people living of the land, literally. I remain very hopeful we could see first humans on their way to Mars in not too distant future.

Elon Musk VS Jeff Bezos: The Battle of The Billionaires For Space

Elon Musk the founder of the space exploration technology company, Space X wants humanity to become a multiplanetary species. He has developed the Dragon spacecraft which, was the first private spacecraft to carry astronauts and dock at the International Space Station. The space race, once a competition between rival countries, has become a battle of the billionaires. The key players are Elon Musk with SpaceX and Jeff Bezos with his Blue Origin space company.

In September 2020 SpaceX announced an agreement with the United States Space Force to recover the first stage booster and, for the first time on a National Security Space Launch mission, launch previously flown boosters on future GPS missions.

Elon Musk with the creation of SpaceX’s latest spacecraft, Starship, and the Super Heavy rocket wants to revolutionize space travel. Once ready it will be a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond. Starship according to Elon will be the world’s most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, with the ability to carry in excess of 100 metric tonnes to Earth orbit. This will also have an impact in earth transportation as well.

Both companies are developing large, reusable rockets capable of carrying people and satellites across space. They are competing to develop the all-important lunar lander for NASA’s Artemis mission in 2024.

Meanwhile Blue Origin is working on developing a rocket called New Glenn, which is being considered by the US Air Force to launch future national security satellites. New Shepard, is a vertical takeoff and vertical landing rocket that Jeff Bezos wants to use for human space tourism.

The Fake Futurism of Elon Musk | Tom Nicholas

21:31 Muskian Futurism for Whom?

There's perhaps already a distinct Elon Musk Video Essay genre here on YouTube. Hopefully, though, this takes a different approach to those which are already out there.

Rather than focussing on I take a look at why Elon Musk has become such a revered figure in recent years and why so many people have embraced Elon Musk's Loop, Tesla, Hyperloop, Spacex, Mars Mission, Neuralink and other projects.

Drawing partly on the work of Mark Fisher and Franco Bifo Birardi, I consider how human perceptions of the future (at least in the advanced capitalist nations) have changed over time. In particular, I'm interested in how Elon Musk's rise might be read as a response to what Birardi and Fisher refer to as the Slow Cancellation of the Future during the ascendency of neoliberalism (or neoliberal capitalism) in the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

I also argue that Elon Musk might have more than a little in common with figures in the political sphere such as Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) and The Squad, Jeremy Corbyn etc. who have also recently sought to break from the status quo and invited us to imagine bold new futures.
