Three Phase Electricity Basics and Calculations electrical engineering

In this video we learn how three phase electricity works from the basics. We explain how three phase electricity is generated, how the voltages vary, how to calculate the voltages and vrms, what frequency, hertz and cycle mean and how we get two different voltages from a three phase supply. We look at wye and delta, transformers and generators. We start with a simple single phase AC generator and then add in a second and third phase to under stand its working principle.

02 - Why is 3-Phase Power Useful? Learn Three Phase Electricity

Here we learn why 3 Phase Power systems are useful for supplying large blocks of electricity and for supplying power to rotating motors. We learn that when you calculate the total power delivered to a motor over the three phases, the total power is constant even though each phase has a time varying power component.

This means that the motor will run more smoothly with less vibration and is why in practice three phase motors are commonly used in industrial equipment.

8. 3-Phase Power Calculation with Line Current and Line Voltage Phase Current and Voltage

This video have short explanation about 3-phase system of electricity .
There are two type of connections in 3-phase system , STAR (Y) and DELTA (mesh).
In star connection phase current is equal to line current.
But Phase voltage is equal to root 3 time line voltage.
Power P= root 3 VxI cos phi.
Power formula is same for star and delta connection.

Electricity is generated normally with 4 wire system.

In this video I will explain what is 3 phase circuit. Using a typical household circuit that powers most homes, I will first explain that is a single phase circuit 3 line system which will provide power to devises that require 110V (hair dryers, toasters, TVs,...) and 220V (electric stoves, electric dryers,...). We will have to voltage supplies connected in series at the same phase (hence the single phase circuit) where the maximum and minimum will be in phase there for supplying 220V.
