Junction Butte Wolf Pack Surrounds Grizzly Bear in Yellowstone National Park (December 29, 2019)

- Brushbuck Wildlife Tour guide, Daniel Bradford, captured an AMAZING interaction of a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park still out on December 29th and the Junction Butte Wolf Pack during a guided tour in Yellowstone National Park.

This was a incredible sight to witness as most bears should be in hibernation during this time (December 29th). Grizzlies take over wolf kills 80% of the time in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Junction Butte Wolf Pack originally took down an elk. When they came back to the carcass they were surprised to find a grizzly bear had stolen it. Eventually, the wolves moved on leaving the bear alone with their kill.

Brushbuck Wildlife Tours is a veteran owned business based out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming for over 10 years with perfect, 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor, Google, and Viator. We are the largest Yellowstone tour company in the Jackson WY area.

Hippo Learns Lesson From Rhinos

Watch as two of Africa’s biggest and heaviest animals go head to head in a very rarely seen sighting. The hippo is trying his luck with the rhinos, but the rhinos have none of it.
BOOK YOUR TRIP TO KRUGER:

Mike Kirkman, Head Ranger at Mala Mala Game Reserve, took this amazing footage near the Airstrip in the Mala Mala Game Reserve. In his own words, Mike tells of this rare and interesting, albeit a bit confusing, sighting:

Send in your wildlife video here, and earn money:

“At the time it was still a very dry season in the reserve and the animals were battling with what little grass there was available. The area around the airstrip was pretty barren and I think the hippo was more curious and lonely because at the time many of the hippo had already left this area due to the drought.

In my opinion, everyone was more confused than anything else at this sighting. It’s not normal to see an interaction like this between any animal – never mind the 2nd and 3rd largest species! As always, when nature throws a curveball like this, as a guide - it is very difficult to explain.

About half of the rangers in the camp were returning from a drive and saw the animals on the way back to camp, but because of the strict rules around disclosing the locations of rhino sighting, we didn’t even announce it on the radio at all. Yet another unfortunate side effect of the rhino crisis and so in this case, many of our guests and fellow rangers were unable to witness this spectacular yet unusual interaction.

We do not normally view rhino at night, but with them being on the main route in and out of the camp it was impossible to avoid however, after a while they were left to themselves. I’m not sure what the final outcome of the interaction would have been but we never saw any injured animals afterwards so I can only assume that it ended peacefully. As you can see in the video, it is not an overly aggressive meeting, but more of confused one.

As I mentioned, I don’t think it had anything to do with food/resource disputes as we were far from the river and there was no grass on the runway to fight over – I think this hippo may have simply been lonely and bored or simply curious.

When we asked Mike how rare this sighting was for him, he responded: “I have never seen anything like this before or since.”

With jaws powerful enough to crush a bowling ball, The Grizzly Bear is definitely a force of nature that commands respect. Luckily human encounters with them in the wild are rare due to their remote wilderness habitat… However make no mistake, they do happen and being prepared on how to react can mean the difference between life and death.

In this episode of Breaking Trail, Coyote Peterson will show you first hand of what to do and NOT do in the event that you ever stumble upon one of these beautiful animals. He will do this using the aid of a 750lb male Grizzly Bear who is an ambassador for his species; helping people learn more about why these bears need to be respected and admired, not feared.

This is one episode that you have to see to believe – Coyote is going toe to claw with a Grizzly Bear!

Bear gets heart attack!! Caught on camera

A bear gets a heart attack while climbing up a hill in Alaska

Caught on camera

Hiker Taking Photos is Killed by Grizzly Bear.

Sadly, a hiker was killed by a Grizzly Bear at Denali National Park in Alaska. It is the parks first death by bear since officially becoming a safe haven for wildlife in 1917. The bear had to be put down for public safety since it now was a man eater.
Rangers found the tourist camera and determined he spent over 8 minutes near the bear at a range of 50 yards. Park rules at Denali ask you to be 300 yards to 1/4 mile away from bears and at Yellowstone they state 100 yards. Ask anyone who visits or works at these parks and they will tell you they see people brake those rules daily for bear, moose, elk and other wildlife. Do people think they can out run a 30mph charging bear? Do they think they will get that perfect picture, not knowing the footage they watch on nature shows are taken with huge lenses, and sometimes even staged with captive animals?
Please enjoy nature, but be careful out there. For yourself, for the wildlife, and for everyone else that plans on visiting these amazing areas.
Thanks.

Black Bears Chase Tourists at Yellowstone National Park

Video captures a mother bear protecting her cubs when a group of tourists get too close.

Woman takes selfie with bear on hiking trail in Mexico

A video has emerged of a close encounter between a hiker and a black bear in a Mexican ecological park.

The bear can be seen approaching the group of hikers and sniffing and pawing at one of the women.

The woman remains calm as the animal stands up on its hind legs and she even takes a selfie of the encounter.

The incident is believed to have taken place in Chipinque Ecological Park.

Following the circulation of the video online, the park issued a statement on July 19 to announce that it would take “strict measures” against visitors who put their life and/or wildlife at risk.

“First of all we want to communicate that we are relieved that people were unharmed. We thank the visitors who gave their support to the three people and we recognise the calm they maintained during the tense moment they lived through,” the park’s statement said.

“This type of approach by the black bear to the visitor is an abnormal behaviour caused by humans. The interaction shown in the video should have been avoided. What is indicated is to move away when detecting the presence of the bear and not get closer; however we see that even the person seeks to take a photo.

“Given the above, Chipinque will take strict measures against visitors who put their life and / or wildlife at risk. Remember that Chipinque is a protected natural area, home to wild flora and fauna, so the sighting of mammals is not unusual, and it is the responsibility of the visitor to stay alert during his visit, avoid getting close and report the presence of a bear to our park rangers,” the park said.

Watch the video to see the tense encounter.

Grizzly Kills Bull Elk In the Yellowstone River, Hayden Valley, Sept.18, 2020

At first light this morning I pulled over noting a Bull Elk with a few cows in the upper right of the meadow depicted in the opening photograph. I was startled moments later by a Bull Elk running into the Yellowstone River pursued by a large Grizzly Bear. The Grizzly was successful in taking down the Bull Elk after only a few minutes, but it worked for around a half an hour to redirect it to the far side of the river and secure it on the east bank, about one- hundred yards downstream from the north end of Hayden Valley.
