Vijayanagar Empire - Hampi | Medieval Indian History | NCERT Video | medieval history | UPSC | PCS |

It was the only Hindu Kingdom founded by Harihara and Bukka, during the times of Mohammad Bin Tughlaq when Sultan was at the stage of downfall and many revolts took place in Kampili. Harihara and Bukka were feudatories of Warangal King Pratap Rudra Dev II
In 1323, MBT destroyed Warangal and during this time Harihara and Bukka went to Kampili to assist Kampil Dev and became ministers there. When the power of Sultan became weak, they revolted and they were reconverted into Hinduism by their Guru Vidhyaranya. So they founded Vidyanagar Kingdom after the name of their Guru which later became ‘Vijaynagar’.
They started ‘Sangam Dynasty’ after the name of their father Sangam.

Timur Lang, the Turk, swooped down from the north and smashed up the Delhi Sultanate. After this terrible affliction, North India remained weak and divided into small potentates. But South India was comparatively well off with Vijaynagar as the largest and most powerful of the southern kingdoms. This state and the city attracted many Hindu refugees from the north. From contemporary accounts, it appears that the city was incredibly rich and beautiful. Said Abdur-Razzak, a traveller from Central Asia: The city is such that eye has not seen nor ear heard of any palace resembling it upon the whole earth. There were arcades and magnificent galleries for the bazaars, and rising above them all was the palace of the king, surrounded by many rivulets and streams flowing through channels of cut stone. In the widespread kingdom, many temples were built with the king emerging to represent godhead. The haughty Kalinga prince’s duel with the Malaysian swordsman resulted in the former’s defeat, followed by suicide. Bijapur’s recalcitrant rebel Adil Khan is subjugated. The ageing king was taken ill and his attempts to fix the succession issue prove futile, with the vast empire showing signs of decay. Even when the Deccan kings began teaming up among themselves, the sprawling empire refused to read the signs on the wall.

India, as is well known, derives its name from the Sindhu (Indus) and the earliest civilization of this country evolved round this river. Another civilization also had its home higher up the Indus Valley. The people who were associated with this civilization called themselves the Aryas or Aryans. Their religion was normally aniconic and in their pantheon the female element was subordinated to the male and the place of honour was given to deities like Indra, Varuna etc. The early literature of the Aryans is the Vedas and even today it has utmost importance in all religious events in all Hindu households.
The video will give you an insight into the Vedic age. #theopenbook #Education #Educationalvideos #Studyiq #learn #Cbse #icse #ssc #generalknowledge

KARNATAKA: Vijayanagar--the greatest city you've never heard of?

Most people have never heard of Vijayanagar--an incredible fact in and of itself. Meanwhile, millions who do know it consider the great South Indian empire to have been the last great bastion of Dharma (Hinduism) against the onslaught of rapacious Muslim invaders. But does this analysis accurately reflect reality?

Cheras History - Empires and Dynasties of Ancient India | Educational Videos by Mocomi Kids

presents : Cheras - Dynasties and History Videos for Kids

Watch this video to know more about the Cheras, an ancient South Indian Empire, who ruled from the 3rd century B.C to the 12th century B.C.

The lands south of the Mauryan Empire which included the Malabar coast, Karur, Coimbatore and Salem districts in South India were all part of the Chera Dynasty. The Chera capital was Tiruvanchikulam.

Utiyan Cheralatan was the first Chera king and is accredited with founding the dynasty. One of his battles was against the Cholas where he suffered a humiliating defeat, as a result of which, he committed suicide.

Utiyan’s son, Imayavaramban Nedun Cheralatan, through his grit and determination, was responsible for making the Chera dynasty one of the most powerful kingdoms in the south. His rule lasted 58 years and during this time he won multiple battles and wars, the most famous of which was against his sworn enemies, the Kadambas of Banasvi.

Imayavaramban not only extended his kingdom, he also supported the local arts, culture and literature during his reign.
