It’s as strong as battery acid and can melt steel. But it lives inside of us and helps digest our food. This is stomach acid. Is stomach acid dangerous? If it’s this powerful, why doesn’t it hurt us? And what would happen if we jumped into a pool full of the stuff? That’s right. Stomach acid is compared to battery acid in terms of the damage it can do. It can range from a 1 to 3 on the pH scale, meaning it’s extremely acidic. That’s because stomach acid’s main component is hydrochloric acid, which is a highly corrosive substance. The reason it can live inside us is due to a special mucous membrane that lines our stomachs. But what would happen if we covered all our skin with it?

What If You Fell Into a Piranha Pool?

Its teeth are supposedly so sharp that if it were to bite you, you would only realize it after you saw the blood. But what if you were attacked by a school of these colorful, fast-moving carnivores? How much would you feel? How long would you last?

What If You Fell Into a Spent Nuclear Fuel Pool?

Spent nuclear fuel pools are designed to cool fuel rods after they come out of a nuclear reactor. While powering a nuclear reactor, these fuel rods become very, very hot (2,800 degrees Celsius / 5,092 degrees Fahrenheit). After they've spent 3 to 6 years inside of a nuclear reactor, fuel rods are no longer efficient. Problem is, they still emit plenty of harmful radiation, and they will for the next 10,000 years. Even though it’s trash, there’s not a garbage dump in the world that will accept it. So, why is water a good place to put these things and what would happen if you fall into one of those spent fuel pools?

What If Wifi Was Visible?

In today’s tech-savvy world, it’s all around you - an invisible world of electromagnetic signals and radio waves. Wi-Fi, or Wireless Fidelity, is responsible for over 60 percent of the planet’s internet traffic. It’s seemingly everywhere, yet, imperceptible to the human eye. But what if you could see it? What would Wi-Fi look like? And what would it do to you if you could see it?

What If We Stopped Shaking Hands?

We’ve been shaking hands since as early as 1800 BCE, when we thought we could absorb the gods’ power. Well, we’re absorbing something alright. Research has shown we have over 3,000 bacteria on our hands, including fecal matter, from 150 different species. Gross. To make matters worse, the average person shakes hands 15,000 times in their lifetime. So, what if we stopped shaking hands altogether?

Mom of Boy Who Fell Into Gorilla Enclosure: I Watch on My Kids, Accidents Happen

More from Inside Edition:
The mother of the 4-year-old boy who climbed into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo is under siege. Michelle Gregg was heard on the video trying to comfort her son as the 450-pound silverback gorilla, named Harambe, dragged him across the moat. Gregg posted a message: As a society, we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes of their child. And if anyone knows me I keep a tight watch on my kids. Accidents happen. An online petition is calling for the mother to be prosecuted.

Mom Defends Video Showing 6-Month-Old Learning to Swim

One mother is defending her decision to let her 6-month-old daughter fend for herself after falling into a pool. Mom Keri Morrison came under fire for standing by as her daughter, Josie, was lured into the pool. To me, when I look at that video, I see nothing but amazing. Here is a six-month-old sitting on the steps, falls in, does exactly what she is supposed to do, Keri tells IE. I started Josie so early on the lesson because I lost my son, Jake, in a drowning accident, she said.

What If You Were Made of Dark Matter?

What would it actually be like if every particle in your body converted into a dark matter particle? And how long could you last in that state? Everything that we can see in the Universe is a massive mash-up of electrons, protons and neutrons fused into atoms. It's what is called baryonic, or just ordinary, matter. Your body is made up of it too. But there is a lot of stuff out there that we don't see, stuff that we call dark matter and dark energy.

What If You Never Coughed?

We all know that annoying tickle in the throat that means only one thing. You're about to cough it out. Wouldn't it be great if nobody coughed into the open air, spreading germs and mucus in all directions? Especially when you're around. Sometimes I wish we didn't cough at all. How much better would a cough-free life be for all of us?
