9 Proofs You Can Increase Your Brain Power

The human brain is probably the most mysterious organ in our body. Scientists keep learning new facts about its work, but it still hides lots of secrets. There are a few simple ways to boost your intellect and improve your brain power, and they will surely surprise you!

Chronic lack of sleep worsens memory 0:40
Prolonged stress destroys the brain 1:07
Love and hate have a lot in common 1:29
The brain is sensitive to dehydration 1:53
Pregnancy changes the brain’s structure 2:13
The abundance of sugar reduces the ability to learn 2:39
Romantic love and maternal feelings are very similar 3:25
Painting improves the work of the brain 3:58
Reading trains the brain 4:33

- During a full night’s sleep, brain cells remove toxic compounds dangerous to our brain.
- A decrease in memory, in the ability to learn, in self-control — these are the consequences that chronic stress is fraught with.
- British scientists found out that love and hate originate in similar brain areas.
- Our brain is almost 80% water.
- Scientists proved that pregnancy reduces the amount of gray matter in the brain areas responsible for social cognition and the ability to understand other people.
- The abundance of fructose in the diet slows down the brain and reduces its ability to learn, remember information, and concentrate.
- According to brain activity, romantic relationships and maternal feelings are very similar, but there are differences as well.
- A study showed that painting and contemplation of works of art improve the interaction between brain areas while slowing its aging.
- Oxford scientists proved that the process of reading trains the cognitive abilities of the brain. It also activates areas that aren’t used at other times.

How to Grow New Brain Cells with Dr Sandrine Thuret | Feel Better Live More Podcast

Can adults grow new neurons? Until relatively recently, experts believed the answer was no. But neuroscientist, Sandrine Thuret explains why she believes humans can indeed generate new brain cells, a process called neurogenesis. She discusses the findings of the fascinating research in this area and gives practical advice on how we can help our brains better perform neurogenesis through our lifestyles- improving mood, increasing memory formation and preventing the decline associated with ageing along the way. This is an empowering and eye-opening conversation – I hope you enjoy it!

How To Produce More Brain Cells - The Neurogenesis Diet & Lifestyle by Brant Cortright

How to produce more brain cells by increasing your rate of neurogenesis.
Based on the book titled “The Neurogenesis Diet & Lifestyle” by Brant Cortright - Get the book here: (affiliate link)
Obviously this 6 minute video didn’t cover the full content of the book, so I recommend it for anyone wanting to get all the details on improving your neurogenesis. It’s well written and doesn’t take long to read.

Supplements mentioned in the video:
► Blueberry extract:
► Fish oil capsules:
► Krill oil capsules:
► Green tea extract: (note that some rare individuals may have a negative impact on their liver through the use of this supplement)
► Curcumin:
► Quercetin:
► Vitamin E:
► Grape seed extract:
► Ginseng root:
► Ginkgo biloba:
► Goji berries:
► Rhodiola rosea root:
(These affiliate links help support the channel)

♦ I wouldn’t recommend buying all of the supplements mentioned in the list, but the top 4 most powerful ones as mentioned in the video are definitely worth checking out. Turmeric (which contains curcumin) can be added to your food as a spice and needn’t be purchased as a supplement. It stains however, so watch out! The book also mentions that absorption of curcumin can be increased when eaten with piperine, a compound found in pepper.
♦ List of foods that contain Quercetin:
♦ List of foods that contain Vitamin E:
♦ Ginseng, ginkgo biloba and rhodiola rosea are so-called adaptogenics and can have powerful effects. Being adaptogenics means that it affects everyone in different ways, and it typically takes a few consecutive days of taking it before the compounds accumulate in high enough amounts for you to actually notice anything. I’m no expert on this but I think people with mood disorders should avoid adaptogenics, or at least research them extensively before trying them. Personally, rhodiola rosea gives me a nice relaxed and happy buzz, and noticeably reduces my stress. I don’t notice as much from ginkgo biloba or ginseng, but I have friends that say they do.

I spent more than 200 hours creating this video so I really hope you enjoyed it.

The brain may be able to repair itself -- with help | Jocelyne Bloch

Through treating everything from strokes to car accident traumas, neurosurgeon Jocelyne Bloch knows the brain's inability to repair itself all too well. But now, she suggests, she and her colleagues may have found the key to neural repair: Doublecortin-positive cells. Similar to stem cells, they are extremely adaptable and, when extracted from a brain, cultured and then re-injected in a lesioned area of the same brain, they can help repair and rebuild it. With a little help, Bloch says, the brain may be able to help itself.

How to Grow New Brain Cells?

For a long time the established dogma was that the adult brain couldn’t generate any new brain cells. One was born with a certain amount of brain cells, and start losing after the age of 25, with a downhill in the brain function. This enhance cognitive functions and the ability to learn and helps to keep the memory sharp. Specifically, new brain cells grow in the hippocampus, the region of the brain that is responsible for learning information, storing long-term memories, and regulating emotions. This has many different positive implications.

Neurogenesis - Grow New Brain Cells With Exercise

Back in Medical School we were told that we were given a certain number of brain cells and that was it for life. However, this idea that humans do not grow new brain cells is now fully demonstrated to be wrong. How exciting it is that we possess the ability to re-grow new brain cells, a process called neurogenesis. Not only that, but we retain this ability throughout our entire lifetimes. So you might be wondering: What can I do to increase neurogenesis? In this video we will explore at least one way to make this happen.

Today Dr. Berg will show you 3 ways to regrow nerve and brain tissue. The best methods are :

1.) Ketosis (Lowering your carbs)
2.) Intermittent Fasting (At least 18-23 hrs a day)
3.) Sprinting exercises

Neurogenesis is the creation of a new nerve. Once you stimulate it you can actually regrow brain cells, increase protective pathways of the nervous system, protect yourself from damaging pathways that cause dementia (oxidative damage), improve your mood and memory.
